At approximately 12:30pm PST today, I said goodbye to my companion, my furry child of 15 wonderful years.
From the moment I laid my eyes on him, thinking he was a beanie baby, into his terrible twos where he destroyed everything he could get his teeth into, his progression into old age, he was loved and loved me in return. He loved unconditionally as only pets can with their caregivers. I say caregiver instead of owner or master because I was neither of those. I did not "own" him, I was not "master" over him. I cared for him. I made his life the best that I could with the tools that the good Lord gave me.
Bud outlasted 3 relationships, survived many moves back and forth across the States and several strokes. Through it all his love and loyalty held true. That is why I post this today. To honor and remember him. The tears flow freely today, as I'm sure they will, for a long time to come but also a smile plays on these lips with the fondest of memories and the warmest of love.
May I meet you again at the Rainbow Bridge, Coocachoo. Mommy loves you always.

*big hugs* I've lost many furry children and the pain is no less for any other life who has touched me. I'm sure your Bud is running and playing with all my furrkids and just waiting for the day when you two meet at the Rainbow Bridge.
*big smooshy hugs*

*hugs you tightly to him, offering any comfort he can* I'm so sorry for your loss honey. He was an adorable lil guy, friendly, playful, and the cutest stare he could put on you to get what he wanted hehe..
Bud was a wonderful companion and friend to you, and I'm glad I got to meet him. He will be missed but he is at peace now.

Awww. That's so sad, yet sweet at the same time. I'm at a loss for emoticons. All I can say is that the Rainbow Bridge poem makes me cry. "Caregiver" -- that's a great word!

Awww. I'm so sorry Trin. Our furry babies bring us so much joy and unconditional love, it's a shame that their time on Earth is so much shorter than ours.
*Big hugs, sweetie*

For those of us with furry and/or winged children, this is the hardest thing in the world. So sorry for your loss.

Knowing, as so many of us do, how painful this can be, I've created a memorial at my house for Bud.
If you wish, please stop by and see it, and maybe even leave a brief message or note, or even a flower or something (please, keep prims low). He was a wonderful pet and companion and will be missed.
The Dawg House is in Dusun, in the North Eastern corner, at 196, 210.

One of the greatest gifts God gave us was the unconditional love of a dog. They love is without question, good days and bad. They wait for us with bright eyes and wagging tails ready to brighten our day with a love and joy. They curl up in your lap on a rainy day and have eyes that touch a special happy place in our souls. Through those furry friends we can get a little taste for the love that God has for us.
Oh God, thank you for Bud, the loyal companion, the loving child, the cheerful playmate. May he bring a smile to many an Angel’s face until his caregiver comes for him. May he wait for her with a new body, free from pain wagging his tail in anticipation of covering her face with puppy kisses once again.
*me hugs you tightly and wipes away your tears*

We hear about people dying in the news every day; murders, car accidents, war; yet somehow these stories don't touch our hearts in the same way a loyal pet passing away. Perhaps it's because just about everyone can relate to this story. I myself rarely cry, yet I also found tears flow after reading your beautiful tribute to him.
I pray the Goddess and Heroess keep his spirit well, and that someday you are united once again.
