Events are a Nightmare -- Here's Comic Relief

When I read your post at first glance, I was a little offended - until I realized you were referring only to the events at 2pm yesterday.

But regardless, could you elaborate on your comment "...and 1 newbie event at a club (all your traffic are belong to us). Sad, sad, sad."?

I caution us to paint our comments with too broad a brush. Not all clubs/pubs are sexually exploitative Tringo parlors.

Overall - I think Enbran's blog is humorous - and probably just what the event calendar needs - a little community oversight through some friendly heckling. Although, I think it would have more meaning if the heckling was coming from folks who actively participated in the SL social scene.

I certainly could not. I would also remember day one of my marketing class, which impressed upon me that I must understand how to communicate with my target audience. Ultimately, if you can't be bothered to go to the effort of communicating effectively, that's your choice.

It reminds me of a story, when I was young.

My family is Puerto Rican and they all speak a richly-accented dialect of Spanish common to the island. I was born in Puerto Rico, but I lived there only six months. My mother packed us up and moved us to the capital of Puerto Rico, New York City ( ). Until the age of five I lived in Queens, and then went off on many other adventures around the US.

In this shuffle amid English-speaking America, I learned pathetically little of my family's language. I had a great accent for Spanish and could pronounce things very well, but I couldn't speak at all fluently.

One evening when I was ten or eleven, I called up my Grandmother to wish her a Happy New Year.

"Feliz ano nuevo, Abuelita!" I gushed to my grandmother, who took her supreme delight at every attempt I made to speak her language, as her english was minimal.

Except, in Spanish, ano means "anus." I'd said "Happy New Anus, Grandmother!"

She laughed heartily and spoke to my mother, who also had a good grin about it, and the latter explained to me what I'd actually said.
