o UI Change: Snap to Grid and Show grid combined.

Is this true? Please tell me it isn't.... I work at 0.125 gridspacing... does this mean i have to work while looking at a useless fishnet now all the time?

But a big yay for all the other building / gridsnap changes. I just hope they snap to the correct values... or I hereby claim the future term: snapgaps.

I wasn't there to try the preview, but having read the release notes posted here, I'm very excited about the whole release. Not only because of some of the great new features (better land management tools, searchable inventory, streaming video, all very spiffy) but also because it proves to me, again, that LL is paying attention and trying to give us what we want.

They are listening to our ideas and working to implement those that are doable. They are imagining, creating and working their booties off to keep improving the quality of SL. This shows great promise in the continuation and future growth of SL.

1) Texture Preview
2) Inventory Search
3) Quicktime movies
4) URL linking

I'm glad these features are finally being implemented though the first two will probally make some of my products not as useful. Can somebody with access to 1.6 IM me, have a couple questions. When is this coming out?

As a new player (I'm so tired of saying that), I don't understand half this stuff, and though I have made items, I still don't know what "grid" or "snap to grid" is.

But I know I'm gonna love the searchable inventory!

And having attended an audio presentation of Mystery Science Fiction Theater, I have to say I'm really looking forward to attending one of these where we can see it, too.

For me, it's the simple things.

I like the chat balloons. As someone who has never tried There, my perception may be different than others, but I think it'll be swell to know exactly who is saying what in a room full of strangers. SL will be more like an Altman movie. Besides, the current handling of chat is no great shakes.

I also dig mouse-steering your avatar. Simple, but handy.

Cocoanut, I've been playing since September, and I'm still not sure what "snap to grid" is, and I actually fear finding out, because I'm sure it will NOT be pleasant.

Selling objects with land will be great for selling houses. You won't have to worry about having to have the house fly off into inventory when the person buys the land, and you won't have to risk setting it to sale for $0 so they can get it, and all the rest.

I have to say that in my experience, when you put a house on land for sale with the land, in fifty percent of the cases at least, people pocket the house that comes with the land, even a high-end expensive customized architectural vision, and put up their own build or prefab that looks more like stylized notions of RL to them.

What we can expect is that merchants of land will start putting spam on to land to force objects into inventory for advertising. I think I personally might start with that delightful object called "Lovely Hat" -- which, yes, I fell for last night. Or maybe the painting of Barnesworth's favorite dog.
