mine are:

* Ability to sell a piece of land with the objects that are on it. UI for this feature is on the "Objects" panel of the "About Land" floater. Includes: See who has objects on their parcel, and how many, and return them to owner.

* Allow content creators to dynamically set the price and sell type of an object using llSetForSale.

And, I grudgingly agree that

- Video streaming: In much the same way as streaming audio, both live and on-demand
video can be streamed into Second Life and played back on any textured surface in-world. The Quicktime engine is used for streaming playback, allowing support for open standards like MPEG-4. Requires that QuickTime be installed. (See Note Below)

has some potential for dynamic rendering of text. Not entirely sure this will work, but we will see.

Those all sound nifty, but I probably won't use them as much as these:

- Searchable inventory.
- Find (and return) objects on my land by owner.
- Assign texture window now has a tree browser instead of a simple list.
- Edit sub-objects of linked sets in place
- llListReplaceList()

So blaze you've previewed it before it's official announcement?

My favorite new feature of 1.6 is it's ability to go back in time and create lots of meaningless threads before it is released.

I love the rush of eager new residents, excited, trembling

Rushing up to the new horse, to open its mouth, inspect its teeth, and declare it NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

It's exciting, and I imagine (for the lindens) rewarding, to see how quickly some residents clamor to tell them what an awful job they did giving us all these new features, what poor choices they made in prioritizing, and how they clearly favor some goody-twoshoes residents over others.

Yay!

Now that you mention it... the hats could be a little shinier.

yeah well, bicker until my point is made, because eventually you'll all end up agreeing with what I'm trying to say.

My favorite new feature is the video, which surprises me, because when I heard about it originally, I was not enthused until I saw it in action. While we all know it will mean giant walls of porn, it will also mean some amazing new creativity as well. Seeing a video clip playing on 20 prims at once is impressive - almost otherworldly. Video is a bit cumbersome to implement right now and is lacking some controls, but I am sure it will rapidly improve. Just seeing a video on some hoochie hair was enough to convince me that the technology is pretty cool.

The inventory search and ability to see whose objects are on your land and return them are both very nice and sorely needed. The one that excites me the most is the web integration, even if it is just a link at this point - it opens up a lot of possibilities. 1.6 is still a little rough around the edges but it is impressive as hell.

Maybe they wanted Survivor rules, so they could culminate their disdain for "Those who walked befrore them" by ejecting them permanently from SL. I can't see anything that would shut them up besides a RL WayBack Machine. they won't ever be happy in other words. Bitter, bitter, bitter. This patch will be incredible. To those who think that somehow this is geared toward the "FIC". I have some Mystery Science Theater DVDs I will ship you free, if you promise to shut up.

for me it's:

1. texture preview
2. ability to see what objects people left on my land
3. Flash movies on a prim
4. view movement option when editting

everything else looks good too. i couldn't be happier with the potential of this update unless it had havok 2 which is probly the next time i'll be this happy with an update. :D

I'd gladly have none of these features if I could just teleport or cross sim borders. Or have a reply to just one of the several dozen bug reports I've raised in the last few months.

Frankly I can't get excited by new features when I can barely play the game and LL are more interested in adding cute features than fixing the fundamental basics or answering customers.

Especially when, if 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, and 1.5 were anything to go by it just means weeks of unplayability while they iron out a couple of the worst new bugs.

But... but...

Your not saying anything!

That said, the inventory and land management tools have a ton of promise, and I'm personally /really/ hyped about the ability to offset linear motor thrust, though it remains to be seen how well this was implimented.

Yeah, that actually thrills me a lot as well, one thing comes to mind: drifting :)
Maybe LL wants to compete with GT4 :P

Bah...

20 prims? Hoochie hair?

Try a plywood particle rain with streaming badgers.

Sadly, no media align for particle textures, and no alpha.

More streaming video on huge particle showers:
http://flickr.com/photos/kex/5794906/

Amazingly enough, this did not seem to slow down my video framerate any more than the typical particle shower of this magnitude would.

How about playing the old SL promotional video *in SL*:

The video stuff is nifty, but really my favorite new features are:
#1) Ability to disable automatic camera movement
#2) Inventory search
#3) Unicode support

My favorites are:

Ability to see who rezed prims on your land
Ability to track back to the owners of particles

These two features will definately help me combat grief. Its not perfect - I mean, ideally I'd rather have the tools to actually prevent grief *before* it happens. But this is better than what we have now, and definately a step in the right direction :)

Travis

(Oh, and the video is kinda cool.... just hope streaming audio (shoutcast) and streaming video (quicktime) aren't mutually exclusive) :P

Damn straight.

For the record, I think 1.6 is amazing and I'm thankful.

LL has been working hard it seems and I can finally close minimized windows.

It's impressive and I look forward to the full roll-out.

Alt-zoom in on a control panel you are aligning, scripting...
Hit ESC to exit menu mode so you can try out the controls...
CAMERA DOES NOT MOVE!!! :D
Play with the controls, then hit ESC again...
Camera goes back to over-the-shoulder default.

Sweet! :)
