We've been spending some time recently finding cool places to visit and explore, and we're after suggestions for more! Don't want clubs or malls, just places where we can spend a couple of hours nosing round, taking in the scenery and having fun. The map is so huge, and I find flying an exercise in frustration (my PC is too old and crusty for me to be able to fly without bouncing off invisible walls or dying horribly at sim borders), so I'm asking here. :)

And incase anyone else might find this thread useful, here's a few places we've visited recently, in no particular order (sorry for lack of pics, only got one handy):

Parrot Island - has to be the best beach I've seen in SL

Atlantis - submerged sim, only seen about a quarter of this one, but the temple of light was georgous

Clementina Park - ducks! hummingbirds! really pretty little parkland :)

Taber - took a boat trip around the tudor village, even better was having Flea as a tour guide!

Lost Gardens - found this one this morning, beautiful buildings which looks stunning at night

So.. any more ideas?

There are many places to well worth visiting in world.

The ones I've found recently include:

Fairyland "attactions park"

Tofalar(113,102)
be careful of the Maze though.. it took me a while to find my way out :)

Silk Water Mountain, a Japanese/Chinese town in the snow.

Orelle(103,127)
An amazing build, you really must see it yourself

And while not as amazing as the ones I mentioned above, my little island in Lozi is worth the visit. Legith's Island Park, offers a nice area to hang out, also a free to play Othello game is on the other side of the lighthouse.

The Forest of Kahruvel

Sprawling forest with a fun back story and some mysterious ruins.

I really enjoy exploring this forest. It covers parts of Rodeo, Stinson, Cowell & Noyo so wear some good hiking shoes! :D

I don't remember the exact name of the place... but try a search in the 'find' window for "hospital" and visit the only listed spot. Nothing especially impressive technically but I thought it was very unique and cute.

The Sci Fi Museum in Indigo is always open. You can take a look at numerous exhibits on the holodeck, explore full sized acurately detailed starships, watch movies, and more. Check out www.scifigeeks.net for details, or (as the saying goes) better yet, stop on by!

For other great places to explore, take a look at the SL Parks & Recreation Service. Higbee & company have done a wonderful job compiling and maintaining a world-wide list.

Then I'm glad I saw it before it was reclaimed, it was really good.

If self-promotion is ok, I'll invite you to come by our sim of Athena (next to FairChang Island). We're only about a month old so we're still getting fixed up, but there is already some interesting stuff to look at. We have some teddy bears made by residents up on the Acropolis, some mythical themed sculpture, and for the next week we'll have the builds from our recent Musical Instrument contest on display. Some of the instruments are interactive or playable, and they are all interesting to check out.
