Things you are intolerant of, gut-level

Although people who act superior because they know something you don't, what really annoys the tits off me more than anything is people who are ignorant and proud of it. Obviously being a geek I'm particularly sensitive to people who go on and on about how they don't know anything about computers as if that's a good thing.

There's an advert showing on british tv at the moment for a loan company where they have a selection of the ugliest people you've ever seen giving testimonials. One of them comes out with what I think is the most awesomely ignorant thing I've ever heard: "they tell you what you needed to know, not babble you with science or whatever".


OK, on a more serious note I despise anti-abortion activists more than anything on earth.

Dairy products.

The following:
- Nazis and skinheads.
- Religions being used as an elitest weapon.
- Willful ignorance.

All of these just make me want to pull out the 'hammer of philosophical correction'

Don't ask what happens after pulling out the hammer... It gets messy.

Absolutely - add to that the little rugrat on the airplane who screeches all the way from Atlanta to London, kicks the back of your chair, and yanks your hair with their gooey snotty hands. Along with their asshat parents who think that every damn thing they do is SO CUTE.

I second that one, and add:

1. anti-pride ("I'm 300 lbs of sexxay.", "I can outdrink you", "I set the world record for eating most hot dogs in a minute", etc, said with a straight face, an earnest tone of voice, and apparent pride -- kinda similar to the "pride in ignorance" one already mentioned)
   
2. pissing all over the toilet instead of in the toilet; no seriously, I'm speaking from "professional" cleaning experience now
   
3. people who lead by authority instead of setting an example that builds respect naturally
   
4. outlandish claims backed only by "appeal to authority" instead of verifiable facts (ie. those who pass on urban legends without even the slightest application of critical thinking skills)
   
5. shamelessness/scamming/conning/misdirection/intentional obfuscation
   
6. people who spell a standard English word wrong on a web-based Internet posting, and take the time to add "sp?)" but don't look it up in an online dictionary (no, seriously, think about it)
   
7. vandalism/wanton destruction of others' things

Just today I took my parents out for breakfast and could barely converse with them, thanks to the booth next to us. The parents let them holler and whine with impunity. Worse, one of the adults held up a one-year old and had her "dance" on the table while he sang, loudly about her "doin' a dance 'n' drooling". Over and over again.
Yeah, reeeaaal cute!



This drives me up the wall too.

Mean people. Money hungry mean people that let their power trips come out in rudeness.

Ignorance.

*People who can's speak two sentences without using the word fuck or its many variants, especially in front of children.
*People who blame everything and everyone else for their failures.
*People who think that its society's duty to raise their kids
*Anyone who considers one's loyalty to the President to be a measure of patriotism

Those things, and milk.

Wow, and to think my first reaction to the question was one small thing. I've read a ton of things in the thread I agree to, but I'll stick with my original one.

On golf score cards (at most courses) they put in a line - "Please let faster players play through." (Something like that.) I wish people would apply this to all aspects of life. Don't walk in a group on sidewalks so that you take up the entire width while moving comarably to a sloth or snail or molasses flowing uphill. I don't mind slow people specifically, just slow ones that refuse to yield to faster ones. (This is not my only example, just the most convenient one I can think of. )

People who claim great pride in something that was no accomplishment of their own. Being born a particular color, having a natural haircolor, being born a certian nationality... Yes, you overcame great odds to be born American/British/Blonde/White/Tall/whatever.

People who only feel good about themselves by tearing someone or something else down.

Women, or more rarely men, who act like there's something wrong with someone who chooses not to have children, or tell you that you'll change your mind one day. Yeah, when I get sick of having money, time and freedom, I'll squirt out a pup or two. No thanks.

Phony people

.....as in the I'm a bitch and I'm proud shirts....they bug the hell out of me.

Oh, and using 'lol' in every sentence, sometimes more than once....rofl is worse.

Ooh, I forgot that one. AOL speak in any form is bad. I can grudgingly accept broken shift keys as long as some punctuation comes out...

I'm intolerant of the self-serving super-ego know-all fucktards that frequent the general forum. The land scanner 'discussions' exemplify the kind of assholes I'm talking about.

OMG, i have to second this. What are these nasty, nasty, nasty SKANKS doing that for some reason they pee on the toilet seat instead of INTO the toilet???!!!!!

Its funny so many intelegent people here obviously because they are skilled enough to operate a computer. Yet, so many are just so out and out Stupid...go figure.

For those Thin skinners that think I called them stupid by saying this. Sorry if the terminology applies to you then you labeled yourself so don't come whining that Shadow Called you stupid.
