Textures -- anyone else having problems

80% of the world's textures are not loading... anyone else having problems seeing everything? Everything to me is just see-through grey.

Seeing it too, mostly with characters rezing in the world. Teleports seem to fail here and there now too, you get to the sim but it phantoms.

It's kind of wacky on my end too..

Didn't I see something about improvements that would offset the phantom avatar hole plug. It looked to me like the objects loaded quickly, then the textures started to come in, so you could see all the objects were there, sort of ghost like. Mind you, it seemed to take a while for the textures to start loading - at least a minute or so of absolutely no bnadwidth action until they finally kicked in.

It's bizarre to look at first of all, that's for sure.

The textures are all messed up, and half of the stuff still won't load so my avatar loosk rather stupid. Is there some fix for this or what? I can't play SL like this.

Half of the stuff is having some sort of odd phantom effect, and times goes by, some of the stuff still isn't rezzing right at all texture wise. Might sound bad to say, but looking at this messed up graphics.. SL is unplayable for me right now.

I went through about 50 of the hundreds of textures in my inventory, and none of them will load.

Fix one thing, break ten. What's changed?

Texture problems here, too. I'm all gray, the world is all white and gray and pastel. A few textures here and there. Been 20 minutes ingame, no change.

Having same problems here, hung around in world for 20 minutes, and most textures still won't load. =/ I hope they fix this. It seems the update broke some things..

The textures seem to come in eventually. I've been watching the Pending Downloads in the Alt-1 (Stat bar)... it's extremely slow. Of course, maybe it has something to do with the ka-zillion textures I've been hording in my library.

My pending downloads is 2500!! And it's only dropping about 3-4 every 30 seconds.

The white look is new. Seen the triangles.

Same here, they do appear eventually, but takes minutes rather than seconds

There is a message on login that states that textures are being loaded after the update and will take "a few hours" (server side, I'd guess). Seems it will be okay dokay inabit.

I honestly can't tell if I have clothes on or not. I teleported to Ahern expecting everyone to look like weird white avatars. But they were all grey and you could see they had clothes, the textures just haven't loaded. This doesn't help me feel comfortable though. LOL

I logged in first in my store, which has around 200 boxes, each with a 256 texture. They all loaded within about 5 minutes. Avatars are taking a bit longer.

I remember this same problem after the last update, and the one before it. It's just having to recache. It's not broken, just straining to catch up.

Well, I know someone who was just told by a Linden that it may "take hours" to completely download and rez everything this time... something to the effect of "imagine having to download 7000 textures .... now multiply that 500 times"....

Technically correct probably but a truly horseshit answer.

I would think there was/should be a way to double server power to share the load of the asset server ---- especially for the days when they do these "upgrades".

I am sitting here watching my friend's avatar play the "white/grey/black skin/clothing is in" while other textures meters away from me rez --- or more significantly.... kinda do halfway.

I hate upgrade days.

That's funny, there was another message once I rezzed in world that said "your clothes are still loading, other players will see you normally, though"...I guess not since Korg's friend is still grey.

Just heard there was an in world message about this a minute ago. Something to the effect of "the sims requesting a lot of textrues and it should be fine in an hour"

Same here, 80% of my textures are invisible. Stayed in for about 20 mins, my av finally returned to normal, but the house textures never did load.

In world message from Andrew Linden said they were working on it and it should be fixed in an hour

I am not in world but have typically seen sluggish performance once the grid is brought back up on most upgrades. Caching has to occur for the sims and this isn't new people. Performance is never where it was pre-upgrade for at least an hour, if not more. We also have a much larger userbase, tons more content, and several more sims that all need to sync up and burn in prior to getting full perofrmance.

geeeez our society always wants it NOW without considering the realistic limitations of technology. I'm goign back to work to watch my RAID 5 array of 1.5TB format on this server build im dong...its just as entertaining as reading whine sessions....

the texture server is being slow as christmas, no pun intended, as usual but i'm not seeing packet loss reported. that's an improvement. at least i know it's just server load and not my connection.

Andrew Linden: Problems with downloading textures? All of the simulators are requesting a lot of textures from the asset server, so some textures will take a while to show up. These problems are temporary and should clear up over the next hour or so.

I stayed on for about 1/2 hour. Everything in my house, and all my clothes eventually went back to normal. It will take a little while the first time around.


BTW. My cache ended up being a little over 1 GB. Maybe that is why a takes so long to repopulate? I have a 3mpbs connection, but add 500 users to the other end...

Assest server is ataking a pounding, it's not "broken" it's gonna take a couple hours for the assest server to *get* all of your textures and load them again! Again, I repeat textures are NOT broken!
