While I'm never a fan of shout-outs to individual people, I think they are permissible if you have something positive to say.
While I worry about Catherine's fundamentalist moral view of the value of economics in SL, I really appreciate a genuine and authentic desire to have a moral code and the desire to advocate and encourage others to follow one as well.
Personally, I think SL will be a lot worse off when these sorts of people are slowly worn down by a community with members that seem to voraciously pounce on viewpoints that are not a part of the groupthink.

blaze, For possibly the first time ever, I agree with one of your postings pretty much all the way. The only thing I would add is that Catherine's viewpoint, which some find extreme, has successfully predicted trends in sl that were missed by everybody else. Well said.

Andie, I am surprised and disappointed to read such a churlish posting from you. When you received the sustained and brutal attacks that Catherine has had to endure in these forums over such a long period of time and still persevere and still work to preserve second life as you value it, then yes, you will be wonderful. Until that time I would suggest that comments like the above should not be made.

SL is just a game and we dont have to take it seriously. I really like everyone, I like my friends because of fun and happiness that we share, I like my enemies because of their criticize. Whatever, I didnt want to send a churlich post! I will try to be wonderful too. hugs & peace

I also think Catherine is wonderful, because she is human being with feeling, miracle create by God. Now is time of Christmas approach, time of forgiveness, of love. So no matter what Catherine say or post in the past, the one thing that count in the end is feeling. I am strong girl, sometimes people make me sad, but I think I have thick skin and friends who love me. Catherine should know that, whatever happen the past weeks, she is still part of community in Second Life. Yes, I think Catherine need our love and deserve our love, because she is one of us. Let's all give one big hug. *hugs Catherine*

It's never good to see anyone leaving SL for any other reason than RL responsibilites/problems.
Makes for a shocking state of affairs when someone can be forced from a virtual world against thier will, regardless of the way it happened or who was at fault. (I make no claim that I know what went on or for what reason)
*sigh* -waits from everyone to attack him- ..... please don't hit the face...

SL is not just a game. It can be played that way, sure. But to many, it is directly a form of art, an extension of RL society, a means of income, a prototyping mechanism, and all the rest of it (I say directly because, for instance, EQ was never INTENDED to enable income via playing the game. SL very much intends that). If the product were more stable in all its facets I would use it a great deal more for my fringe development ideas, but for now I have to settle for Flash or GDI+. So, it can also be viewed as a (one day possibly) professional tool.
"Just a game" has more to do with your approach to it than the actual classification of the software. It would be more accurate to say, "I take it as just a game". I've heard people talk this way about their jobs though.
I do, however, agree with the fact that the ability to make money in the game has fundamentally altered it, particularly as the most popular ways to make money are hardly creative; night clubs, porn, gambling/betting, land speculation, and so on. I've never been a fan of GOM at all, as it drives this sort of development. That's my been-playing-forever opinion though, nothing more.
Keep in mind just because you don't see Tcoz Bach in game doesn't mean I'm not in there in some completely anonymous fashion. I'm very much aware of what is happening in SL.
Sorry to see you go Cat...I still remember teaching you to build your first little house, and making it purple because that was the color of your clothes mostly ;p. I've had similar problems in the game so understand where you're coming from. It's just so disappointing to see your creativity get boxed in because you're not interested in money or groups bent on acquiring it.
Gluck wherever you go.

I'm on this bandwagon too. I really like Cat as well as all the people she doesn't like. So, I have not been getting involved. I just hope she decided to stay and possibly just leave the forums since they obviously cause too much pain. Huggerz, MJ

Great Toys
12-15-2004 09:20
Catherine made fun toys. Some of the NPCs seemed particularly clever. She was a good builder with textures. She a lot of work into what she did. She had a concept and carried it through. That can be hard to do in SL. She also took time to show newbies the game. Once she helped me out by making a pair of prim mittens for me when I realized I had moved to a snow sim across from her LOL.
I don't know whether this sale of her land was a dramatic action that Catherine staged with alts, or what she did. But as a person with alts, I would say: great story! It has provided hours of entertainment, made many people smug in the knowledge that they are superior, and guilted other people into saying something nice that perhaps they should have said before. It's all part of the SL landscape.

Awesome post Blaze, and I agree. I appreciate the passion that Catherine has shown for her viewpoints on SL as a whole, even though I do at times disagree with them. Regardless of any disagreements I have had with her ideaologies (which have been surprisingly few), I would rather have 10,000,000 Catherines in-world than the typical impassionate flock of sheep (back off schwann, not talking about your sheep). Stay around Catherine! We need some more punk-rock in SL
