Triple neg rating! Whoo hoo!

I'd just like to say that tonight I recieved my first neg rating, and it was a *triple* neg rating, no less. Thanks, Raziel!

That's nothing, i have 2 triple neg ratings, for something i didn't even do. And the worst part is, i have 0 neg ratings given out.

Well it looks like two of the neg ratings have been withdrawn, which I feel is quite a fair gesture. Behaviour is a subjective thing, so I have no problem with having a neg behaviour rating, even though I don't feel that I behaved poorly in any way.

Maybe this whole neg rating idea isn't such a good idea. Maybe SL should only allow positive ratings. Just a thought... and a hyppocritical one too, since I've given two neg behaviour ratings, myself.

Neg rating can be abused, but I think it is good to have the option. It serves as a guage to reputation. I just dont get receiving one (or triple) for no apparent reason.

I have given six in about five months. One was an accident I was able to take back. But, the others knew it was coming, I pleaded with them to keep me from neg rating them, but some just dont care apparently. A neg rating and abuse report go hand in hand with me, and it is a rare, last resort.

Those who know me know I go out of my way to help out others when I can, one neg rating is not going to hurt me. Just sort of a drag to have the blot.

Welcome to the club. I got mine for canceling Regnar Bell's card. He wouldn't stop stalking me and my friends, even after several requests for him to stop it. So he came and threw negatives on me for stopping him from finding me. Go figure.

I got my first triple neg just the other day, from someone I have never met, who after firing a rocket launcher at a friend and I - was rightly banned by my friend from his land. Bang - immediate triple neg and he flew off, presumably to shoot someone else. It seems that by association I had done something wrong, and despite me trying very hard to talk to them about it I got nothing but an angry stream of capital letters about how Evil I was.

I think neg ratings can be as much a measure of how much time you are in-world (and therefore how many oddballs you run into) as it is a measure of behaviour.

The people in the Morris had the "joy" of meeting this clown when he was rezzing large pictures of Hitler in a crowd - funnily enough people took exception to this and tried to cover it up.

Personally I don't like ratings either way (negative or positive). Both are open for abuse (hot tub parties for gaining, pack of tards for negating).

I guess I should say I don't like it as a basis for income. For giggles, sure, but to base game functions on it, nah. It isn't safe from rampent abuse.

I don't think you we should get rid of the negative rating, also you shouldn't care too much about a few negative ratings too much, just compare the amount of positive ratings to the negative and I guess you won't be that unhappy

I got a triple neg rating from ANGEL LEVIATHAN last night because I was in the group for SecondLife Radio.. SLive rules or something was in front of my name. Wasn't even listening at the time and forgot I it was my active group.

It kinda ruined my fun and I was minding my own business so I filed an abuse report. Do the Lindens take action on this?

What's the big deal about negative ratings? A -1 rating, when you have +100 nominally affects your income.

Who looks at these -1's anyways? Personally, I find that the amount of negative ratings given is a much better judge of someone's character.

Let me give you a for instance - Cori Sunshine is one of my favorite people in SL. I'm sure a lot of people would agree with me. She's got a tripple neg, and has given out 0 negatives. I don't know where they came from but what this says to me is that at some point, she encountered a bad apple, and she was too classy to neg rate them back. C'mon people! Be happy!

When your are minding your own business making jumps for motor cycles in the sandbox it's just a drag to be pulled out of the fun zone by a triple neg that seemed to come out of nowhere. I almost logged off to play bf1942 but then I remember it didnt have scripting so I kept playing SL



This wasn't the big debate he had in the welcome area with the lindens, this was after... Angel went looking for trouble. Worthy of an abuse report if you ask me.

This is an important incident that no one has brought up before and needs to be discussed extenisvely.

I've given out 56 neg ratings, and all those Lindens DESERVED it.

Jack, Angel rates everyone negative for any small reason. She had a fight with my group leader one time so she rated all of us a triple neg. Even if she had never met them. And look at her negs, and how many she has given out.

I really want to thank Angel for proving my point when I banned her from the SL Welcome House property. She is a childish and most unwelcome individual and to be negatively rated by her just proves that point. Oh and by the way the rumor is that she is a child of one of the Lindens employees.
So to the said parent, why don't you finally crack down on your bad seed before she gets waaaaaaayyyy to out of hand and starts driving people off. I won't recommend anyone to join SL until someone like this is dealt with the way they should be.

Ok, I try to limit myself to one snarky post per thread, but HOLY FREAKIN CRAAAAAAAP PEOPLE! it's three negative ratings, not the plague!

Here, sit down and listen, I'm going to tell you a secret and knowing this will make your life easier. Here it is, ready? Some people are jerks.

You can't make them not be jerks, trying to make them not be jerks makes them bigger jerks.

Now, if you have an SL account, you can rate people. There is no test to get a Rating License that can be revoked. There is no Ratings Board of Appeal. If you have an SL account you can rate people.

The logical conclusion we can draw from this is that sometimes you will be rated by jerks. OMFG!!!

The amount of damage or help that one person's three ratings does to you is miniscule compared to the aggerate value. It is not worth worrying about.

but he does make some valid points, namely that there are all sorts of people in the world, some you will get along with and some you won't, and if you let the ones you do not get along with ruin your second/first life, then they win, and LL loses.

Wednesday, I wasn't taking it very seriously at all. That's why I wrote "Whoo hoo!" in the thread title. It's amusing.

Anyway, let's just let this thread die a peaceful death now.

There was a guy running around last night just giving everyone triple negatives, everyone he saw. It was probably that guy. Wish I could remember the name tho.

Its not like he's going to stay in the game beyond the trial period... an obvious griefer, so I wonder ,do negs go away when the user is gone?

I've never given nor received a neg rating, but then again I am not close to being on the ratings leaderboard either. But I am curious about peoples perceptions of ratings. My impressions, based on this and other threads, is that a negative rating is perceived as a major slam. However, it does not seem that a positive rating is as positive. People seem to give out positive ratings for things that mildly please them. Wouldn't it be better if:
a) a positive rating was only given for things that are truly exceptional?
OR
b) a negative rating was taken as an indication of mild distaste, not a statement of loathing?

I do try to be a good SLer. I am friendly, helpful when possible, and non-critical when encountered in game. My builds might not be terribly exciting, but I try to blend in with the general look of the area and don't build flashy eyesores that dominate the landscape. However, if someone does choose to give me a negative rating, I would not automatically consider the person who gave me that rating to be a bad person. SL is a good game, but it is only a game, and I refuse to stress about it in my RL.

Well now that I found out I am not the only person who has been triple neg rated by some dingleberry, I dont feel special anymore. I only have one "triple neg"

I tried to triple neg myself in order to have TWO and thus be the Unfair Triple Neg Leader, but alas, I was not able to do so.

I suppose I will have to be content being among the mediocre ... OR perhaps I should hang out at the welcome area and taunt griefing newbies ... Hrm :/
