I take up about a square foot of virtual floorspace and interject unrelated things in to people's conversations. On occasion, I recieve a hug.

lol! cute. I know a lot of people that would assess their SL experience in much the same way :)

I like to sing My Sharona while replacing the actual phrase "My Sharona" with people's avatar names. My favorite so far?

"Da da da da da da
Eggy Lippman!
Da da da da da da etc."

A waste of time? I hardly think so.

Oooo can you show me how to do that sometime? Maybe I can educate my boss on that a little.

It's no more of a 'waste' of time than anything else is. We're all just waiting to die anyway, from one perspective.

I just thought I'd point that out.

I try to do just about everything I can do here, and have found fun, if only out of sheer ironic amusement, from pretty much all of it.

The only sucky thing is that my computer at home is kind of shot, so I can't get in-world for more than 15 minutes at a time till I get it fixed up. Hopefully, only 2 more days 'till I can waste my time even more effectively than I do now.

And running from certain people.

Play

None of the above.

I spend my time admiring the creativity that is apparant on SL and learning as much as I can from it about 3D modeling and scripting. I expect this to have a direct positive impact on my design career in RL.

One can try out design ideas, learn from your mistakes and play with concepts that would otherwise be difficult and expensive to do in RL.

And it is fun. Play is a positive learning experience.

i'm happy you believe everything you wrote so i'm posting a few links as a favour to you for much better building and scripting tools than SL that won't impose any supposed community on you.

Virtools
Alias
FormZ
Autocad, Revit, 3d Studio Max
Rhinoceros

i think the best combination for your purpose would be 3d Studio and Virtools, although for working architecturally, my pick is FormZ. you can use 3dstudio to create your world, your avatar, and you animations. you can use virtools to script it and modify it and then you can walk around in peace with no need for auto tp scripts!
good luck. :)

That is great information for the future. Meanwhile, SL costs only $9.95 and lets you see lots of examples of creative work by others.

Is that from the article I read that says some scientists believe the universe may be holographic?

I'm not familiar with the articles, but have had similar thoughts. As simming is evolving to be more and more realistic, could it eventually become reality or even evolve beyond real? I'm going to start a seperate thread on this concept.

yes, but when you purchase a sim and pay that tier for one year, that is 3000 USD. for that price you could buy almost all of the software on that list. so SL is a great introductory building tool, but if you don't like the hassle of other human beings, buying more land is heading down the wrong path in the long term return on investment.

oh yeah, these tools don't have prim limits. also, they are not limited to prims ;)

I don't do much SL because it works so very badly but maybe next time I do start up SL I will make a device that flies around listening for the words "known issue"" and then sets the person who spoke them on fire and launch them into space.

I waste my time pretending that I have building talent so that I can move onto something else once I prove to myself that I don't suck and that I COULD pursue building if I really wanted to. 8D

Oh my, I'm so INTP it hurts..

LOL, Congrats! I have never seen a Meyers-Briggs reference anywhere on the internet before, let alone SL.

INFJ here.
