what do you do in sl?

Many people on this forum look at a lot of activities. It's becoming normative to consider people who participate in certain things to be - clueless - boring - unimaginative - blahblahblah

so if you don't run or visits clubs, you don't av sex, you don't play sl to make money, you don't care about ratings, you don't build suburban homes, what the heck do you do in SL?

be warned - when you answer, there is a higher than usual probability that i will respond by describing why your answer makes you pathetic, a loser, immoral, or blahblahblah

i play sl to live through ridiculous and silly scenarios and to make money buying-selling land.

Hmm... I hang out with friends, and usually when I'm not scripting stupid things myself, I help them script stupid things. Or throw L$ at n00bs.

Yeah yeah, I know, I've got this great big shiny 'L' on my forehead...

Primarily work on tuning existing script systems, and hang in Ahern mentoring when I'm tired of coding. Can't really build much since I've used what I think is safe of my prim allotments.

True though the overwhelming majority of readily available activities in SL like the ones you indicate don't hold any appeal for me at all. Overall the SL world isn't turning out the way I think a lot of us hoped it would, though there are pockets here and there.

I waste my time pretending that I have building talent so that I can move onto something else once I prove to myself that I don't suck and that I COULD pursue building if I really wanted to. 8D

I build interesting things as an outlet for my (modest) visual and spatial creativity. My job is great, but doesn't involved a lot of visual and spatial creativity. I could be painting watercolors or sculpting with clay, but I do the art thing in SL, instead. It's very nice to receive compliments on what I've done so far. But I really do it just for myself.

I waste away my precious SL time establishing a virtual friendship with Jauani Wu.

Mostly I correct grammer on Forum posts, viz.,

- as 'It's' is a contraction of 'it is' in the case above (there being nothing to possess!) you have two verbs preceding the (predicate) adjective 'normative'.

STFU - Means What?

Lately I have spent too much time in Second Life going to places where people are gathered and seeing attachments floating, moving about, with no avatar wearing them displayed, and no name text showing, and filing bug reports about that. I go to a sandbox and make a grid of one hundred cubes and delete it. I count the number between 30 and 50 of ghosted cubes and file a bug report about that. I wonder for a while about why we are told to send log files in when there isn't even a document with the error message's meanings available for the support crew to use to decipher them. Then I wonder if the message I posted about invisible avatars in the Linden Hotline will ever get answered.

I wonder how a support person, after receiving 30 bug reports that say "Other Person's Avatar Invisible" could reply indicating that they think it's MY avatar that is not shown. Do they not know what the word "other" means, or did they think I meant someone other than them?

Enough, it's time to watch the Simpons.

I spend almost the entire time preening. Sitting at the water's edge gazing into that beautiful reflection.

I waste my time on Dungeons and Sexballs:
I find it amazing how people can make these, get them to work, and put it all together. Some do it quite elaborately, and let your keys control your actions.
This amuses me, and makes me wish I had Poser.

I waste my time shopping and preening my av to take hundreds of photos:

Not to mention that the razor cuts are healing nicely now.

I waste my time in SL avoiding my RL circumstances:
Yeah. Family gives me headaches with all their noise. Constant television crap blares from all the boobtubes. I'm not able to go out and do much that is physical with a knee injury. It even makes it hard to work. I find it nice to forget that I've screwed up my MCL for once.

I've recently read some mathematical gymnastics that seem to indicate that, if simulating a universe is possible, it's more likely than not that we're already living in a simulation of a universe...

I waste my time wandering around visiting and looking for other people's cool builds and interesting places. There are some really neat things out there. I took a ride on the Dore-Luna trolley yesterday (is that the right name?). I chased it down the road for about ten minutes before I finally grabbed it and could get on. But it was definitely worth the effort!
