If there were one iota of doubt Kneelow was using the term "protest warrior" in anything other than a perjorative sense, I wouldn't have responded. Previous posts belie any claim at objectivity from the "below the waist"ed one.

Funny, any group; liberal, democrat, republican, socialist all claim high ideals. I always figured the highest ideals were reason and self control, yet every one of these threads so far consists of throwing names and labels back and forth, debating symantics, and personal attacks. Now, anyone gonna say "they started it!"

Actually, what I started was a call for like minded people to join my IW group. There was no name calling and no misspellings (symantics=semantics). Then people of tolerance and diversity came along to offer their support, encouragement, and censorship.

While I appreciate the passionate responses shown on both side of this debate, i did want to take a moment to remind everyone that the purpose of the Second Life forums is to "promote discussion and education about Second Life."

The forums are not the proper place to air personal attacks against one another - please refrain from personally attacking someone you don't agree with in the forums.

Well, now that things seem to have calmed down, I'd like to issue the call to anyone interested in joining the Second Life chapter of Protest Warrior. We are a small but dedicated group of people who aren't content to be closet Conservatives while Liberals continue to trash our country and our ideals unchallenged.

However, PW is not for griefers. It's not about harrassing anyone or negrating people. It's about being able to stand your ground in a war of ideas. If you can't form a coherent thought or your best come back is "Commie!" or "God hates a fag" this group is NOT for you.

If, on the other hand, you are an educated Conservative (by educated I mean you've read up on Conservative arguments and understand why we believe what we believe) or wish to become one, this group is for you.

For more information on what Protest Warrior is all about, check out their website at www.protestwarrior.com. The group has open enrollment so you are free to join. Once you have IM me and I'll give you all the signs and t-shirts.

Actually NeoCon is the name of our space station in orbit (it's the one with the Southern Cross painted on it) from which we members of the VRWC plot the next war on some unsuspecting murderous totalitarian regime (I'm looking at *you*, Kim Jong Il). That is, when we're not plotting to murder thousands of our fellow Americans in order to justifty said war. With all that it's hard to find the time to rape people of their Constitutional rights (you can see just how squelched the Liberals are in America-can barely burn a flag or a president in effigy without getting arrested) but somehow we manage.

When we get some free time up here in NeoCon (which we affectionately call the "Ivory Tower" we like to hunt deer with our AK-47s, watch NASCAR, and listen to country music.

I am a moderate with a liberal bias. I tend to favor Democratic canadites but there are some republican presidents that really struck a cord with me. I have respectful political debates with intelligent conservative men and women(One of which is a Political Science teacher)... So when I say you're acting in a disgraceful and laughable manner, be sure its not because of your political affiliation, but because you're doing nothing but spouting stupid rhetoric and bullshit(I also think, dispite my Liberal bias, think Michael Moore is a scumbag in much the same manner. Well, I don't serve in the US military as the conditions are not appropriate for homosexuals. It is far too great a risk that I would be discharged for being a fag. Not a safe investment in my future.

However, I do serve my country. I go to many of the places out troops go. The only difference is that I'm not carrying a gun.

If you haven't been to a place where 50 of your closeest buddies sleep near each other in a quivering mass while a couple others stand protective guard over their bodies... you haven't been there. If you haven't worn the uniform and been spat upon for that, literally or figuratively like you just did, you haven't been there. If you haven't been shot at while trying to provide humanitarian relief to a flood damaged area (as I have), you haven't been there. If you haven't had things assumed about your political stances and beliefs based solely on the fact that you carried out orders to the best of your abilites, you haven't been there. If you haven't known when you would next be able to get 3 hots and a cot for a continuous period of time, you haven't been there. If you haven't faced the question of following a legal order of an idiot or facing a court martial, you haven't been there.

Don't stake out claims to a perception of reality or personal status you cannot back up.

It's not an excuse, it is a reality. I am a HPF (High Profile Fag) and as such it would be almost impossible to keep my sexuality in a DADT scenario. Although I would like to see the look on a few people's faces if I did manage to enlist.
