I'm a metal guy. Not the whiny gothy bitchy kinda metal thats so popular nowadays (or with you silly goth kids
), but the sort of energetic, rallying, uplifting metal. The type that seems to mostly come from Europe. Power Metal, the metal for those who can truly wail on a guitar. |

WOW.. some really impressive stuff here! I was wondering if anyone was ever gonna visit the up and coming...
PANDA*POP... SL's first (I think?) Indie bar! There will be tons of IDM, Indie, emo-core, post-rock, math-rock, crust, and other cubby-holed music galore. I will be doing some DJing as well Until I saw this thread, I hadn't thought about posting about PANDA*POP until the opening party... but I was just way inspired! If any like-minded individuals would like to contribute or just stop by and say hey while I toil away, feel free! IDM and abstract electronica, Jazz (and some fusion), Classical... some progressive trance/deep house, some psy/goa trance, and some intelligent DnB (but that gets close to IDM) a bit of folk, some industrial, the less 'guitar rocky' kind... and a bit of EBM. Yashu.. there will be tons of IDM. There is even a B. Fleishmann poster up! I like the SOMA FM streams. I thought they weren't around anymore but I was wrong. Indie Pop rocks and clique hop will be streaming when I'm not DJing! Here's my current playlist... Marillion, David Sylvian, Porcupine Tree, King Crimson, The Sundays, Mark Sandman, Elbow, Ween, Sneaker Pimps, Radiohead, Mike Doughty, Opeth, Death Cab for Cutie, Ritual, Mew, Cocteau Twins, PJ Harvey, MC 900ft Jesus, Frou Frou, The Mars Volta, Badly Drawn Boy, Jeff Buckley, Blackfield, Chroma Key, Zero 7, Doves Make of it what you will ![]() Death Cab for Cutie, The Mars Volta, Badly Drawn boy, The Sundays! I had no idea, Chip! Breakcore (<3 Venetian Snares and Kid606 <3), Speedbass, Power Electronics, Noise (<3 Merzbow), Power Noise (<3 Hypnoskull, Synapscape, anything on Ant-Zen, really..) 'IDM' (<3 Autechre, Gridlock, etc.), Glitch, Dark Ambient, Industrial, noise rock like Arab on Radar and Lightning Bolt, Polka, etc., etc. are what I usually have on more often than not. Though my favoritest groups that are more human friendly are: Cocteau Twins, Swans, My Bloody Valentine, Cranes, The Magnetic Fields and The Smiths/Morrrissey. Though anyone familiar with Swans would probably say I was lying about the 'friendly' part. Hey Belaya, Arab on Radar will definitely be featured on one of my noise-rock/math-rock/crust parties ![]() Didn't mean this as a plug or anything (and PANDA*POP will not be a money-making entity), but this thread just gave me some major inspiration and huge smiles! ![]() _____________________

Death Cab for Cutie, The Mars Volta, Badly Drawn boy, The Sundays! I had no idea, Chip! Thanks Panda! I could go on and on and on. I have very diverse tastes but the stuff I like most seems to be out of the mainstream. As for the Sundays... Harriet Wheeler's voice *almost* makes me believe in God. It's hard for me to imagine anything more heavenly! Let me know when you have math-rock night. I'm so there!_____________________

oh, when i actively listened more to music, i liked to open my ears up to just about every style out there. from a production standpoint i was quite into techno, or TECHNOlogically-based music. such a broad umbrella though, no matter how you want to label it. i smiled upon going to Luskwood for the first time and trancing out: i saw eltee there with her glowsticks and grinned happily. i come from a classical background and was a classical snob for awhile -- i did not get introduced to rockin' stuff til' later. there is just so much music in the world to enjoy.

Lets see, I guess at 29, ive started to not be all up on whats the most current stuff out there. The streams I end up playing on my land the most are ambient, like the mystic radio that was mentioned. My favorite groups are ones ive had for years now. Portishead, PJ Harvey, The Smiths, mostly what was concidered alternative in the 90's and i think is called modern rock now. Pretty much I get into all kinds of music for a while, though I admit I can only enjoy country in small doses.
