I like just about everything except rap and country. Though I DO like Emenem, and in the right bar, country is fun too.
Some favorite bands include: Rasputina, Tori Amos, The Cranberries, Smashing Pumpkins, Dressy Bessy, My Bloody Valentine, Aimee Mann, Ministry, Marilyn Manson, ABBA, Lords of Acid, Snake River Conspiracy, Sixpence none the Richer, NIN, Liz Phair, Crystal Method, Blink 182, Weezer, Paula Cole, Suzanne Vega... uhg. Too many to list, to hard to exclude any ![]() _____________________

Breakcore (<3 Venetian Snares and Kid606 <3), Speedbass, Power Electronics, Noise (<3 Merzbow), Power Noise (<3 Hypnoskull, Synapscape, anything on Ant-Zen, really..) 'IDM' (<3 Autechre, Gridlock, etc.), Glitch, Dark Ambient, Industrial, noise rock like Arab on Radar and Lightning Bolt, Polka, etc., etc. are what I usually have on more often than not.
Though my favoritest groups that are more human friendly are: Cocteau Twins, Swans, My Bloody Valentine, Cranes, The Magnetic Fields and The Smiths/Morrrissey. Though anyone familiar with Swans would probably say I was lying about the 'friendly' part. _____________________

Southern Rock(insert outdated redneck insults here) would be my first choice. I listen to and enjoy all types of music(with the exception of p***y control, give it a rest people). I have a tuner on my land, I switch between stations to suit my mood.
My current staions: All Southern Rock Belly up for Blues Energy FM Radio Paradise Groove Salad Sky FM Smooth Jazz Club 977 Xnetradio _____________________

I play classical on my home plot, unless entertaining, then usually something more modern, from 70's and 80's rock to grunge/goth.

It depends on the theme of the location / build. I say choose something that fits with your project theme. Like - you wouldn't want to have noise music in a shopping mall - but it might work in some kind of industrial project. It will be impossible to please everyone since musical tastes in SL run the whole range.
My usual tastes tend towards obscure and esoteric music so I'm sure they won't make the popular cut. But I'll list what I like anyway since its fun to see what everyone is into: ![]() Genres (in no order): gothic ethereal, gothic rock, neo-classical, neo-folk, esoteric, black metal, doom metal, dark ambient, darkwave, industrial, experimental, psychedelia (both old and new), wyrd folk, space rock, prog, some IDM, electronic, shoegazer, traditional folk, celtic, nordic, bluegrass, appalachian... hmm many more but these top the list. some bands: agalloch, autechre, backworld, black sabbath, brian eno, can, coil, comus, current 93, dargaard, dead can dance, die verbannten kinder evas, donovan, elend, emperor, enslaved, fire + ice, hawkwind, high on fire, in gowan ring, in the woods, incredible string band, jimi hendrix, legendary pink dots, my bloody valentine, my dying bride, nick drake, pink floyd, sleep, sigur ros, skullflower, stars of the lid, summoning, swans, syd barrett, tenhi, the beatles, the velvet underground, ulver, windy & carl, xasthur, zoviet france _____________________

Like - you wouldn't want to have noise music in a shopping mall - but it might work in some kind of industrial project. It will be impossible to please everyone since musical tastes in SL run the whole range. Agreed. Play what fits the scene. Otherwise it'd just be weird. But don't play music that will only appeal to one group of people, either. I know that I would be loath to shop somewhere where they're playing American Top40 Hits.. My own musical tastes seem to be.. idiosyncratic on SL. I have only found one person her so far that listens to music even remotely like my own. And even she doesn't listen to it exclusively. I am an Angura-kei fan. And I mostly grvaitate towards lesser-known Japanese bands. Bands lesser-known to people who are familiar with Japanese music to begin with. I am a minority, to say the least. Bands I like include: metronome, Yum!Yum! ORANGE, Plus-Tech Squeeze Box, YMCK, Here's The Hamsters, 175R, Doping Panda, Dokusatsu Terrorist, kyoubou, TRICERATOPS, ZGOQ, D[di:] More popular bands that I like: Psycho le Cemu, POLYSICS, PE'Z, Közi, Cibo Matto, baroque Apart from Japanese music, I also like chiptunes, some Finnish Electro, and Classical. But Angura-kei is my one true love. And other Japanese bands follow closely behind that. |
