trading fic bears

would it be worthwhile to hold events to trade fic (and non-fic) bears?

there are alot of bears out there. and people keep asking me for copies (which i don't have) so i point them at the makers.

whacha think?

Since there's a little FIC bear gathering appearing again, including yet more feting of the already-feted Devlin bear, let me post this quote again that has so bothered Aimee, to the point where she's accusing me of "lying":



Get a grip, Aimee. Nowhere in this post does it say anything about Aimee's bears. It just says that a line of FIC bears has appeared, with the link of Nicole-Devlin. Devlin then started up a collection, which StoneSelf features here.

We can go look up the edits on each of these bears and see which ones are Aimee's and which ones are Nicoles...but who cares? Maybe there is only one Nicole-Devlin pass-through, and it ends there? Maybe Devlin passes Nicole's bear to other FIC's -- it would be a fun parlour trick to go examine them LOL.

The larger point was about the trading cards on private property...and then the bear template that when from Nicole to Devlin. Like I said, it only takes one link to prove the missing link LOL. You don't have to put Aimee into the picture!

Aimee...why don't you...light somewhere? Buy some land. Settle down! You seem quite restless and unhappy!

I think this is a wonderful idea!

I would love to attend, and be honored to trade bears with others, even though I would be getting the better end of the deal in terms of getting the better bears, lol.

As more of a disinterested observer to the whole Prok/Bear thing, my conclusion is that there was some misunderstanding on his part (not "lying" regarding which bear was which, and he was referring to the fact that the Linden bear ever got handed out in the first place, not the Amy bear.

Um, no Coco. Read my post. There's no "misunderstanding" when I open up the bear that Devlin sent me for some obscure reason (probably to show off his "no degree of separation" from a Linden LOL).

The bear is called Devlin Bear. The bear has Nicole as creator. The bear is on no-mod. That means it wasn't renamed by Devlin. That means it was named by Nicole. It means it was created by Nicole and given to Devlin.

Now do you get it?

btw i gave you a copy of aimee's bear. you can custommize your own bear and trade it, too.

I don't do bears.

I KNOW that, Prok. That's what I meant. That was an altogether different bear from the one Amy made, which is the one I decorated.

Edited to add: Rereading what you wrote, I think you still don't see what I'm saying. Though some Linden bears did end up being displayed toward the end (most of them made by Lindens), the bears which the whole FIC bear started out with were made by AMY. They were completely different from the Linden bears (I would not feel right about decorating a Linden bear that I wasn't supposed to have), and they are completely different from and oodles cuter than the Linden bears, no offense to the Linden who designed the Linden bear.

AND - yes I know you are talking about the original Linden bear and the Devlin bear, and I got your point about that long ago. Sometimes I think I am the ONLY person on these forums who ever really understands what all is going on and what all people are saying. Sheesh.

OK Coco. To be magnanimous I will accept the notion that Prokofy made an error in insisting that the FIC bears had ANY connection to Nicole, her bears, or the Lindens.

If the original bear was "mod" then Devlin could have renamed it and then set no-mod... Could that be a possiblity? Either way Nicole is nice and Devlin is a cute little bugger.

But back to the original topic before Prok came in with his metaphorical hanger and hijacked this thread, yah it'd be neat to do a little trading, I was asking around for people's bears earlier but I'm lazy and only made off with a few. And by a few I mean one. So if you schedule the event they will come

They're like beanie babies, take part of the craze before the craze gets you. We the FIC implanted Killswitches in the bears so that they might rise from their furry prisons and bring down those who opose the FIC. Or something like that. But soon enough the bears will get boring and it'll only be the select weirdos that still collect and trade them.

No, it's not all about him. Devlin tiered up quite a bit to do this and is doing it for free (gasp) and is getting nothing from it. I am sure that Dev would be more than delighted to put out a bear, if certain people chose to make one, rather than complain constantly about being left out and excluded. I have a bear there and I don't recall getting an RFP or an engraved invitation. I just made one and gave it to him.
