You're really quite worthless. Please stop wasting the space in the forum database it takes to contain your existence.

Sorry to disappoint.

I don't know if Nicole Linden is an old player recycled and reborn now as a Linden, or what her story is -- I wasn't here for all that.

I just know that it is Nicole Linden who made the Linden card dispensors and the Linden bears as a nice feel-good exercise for the community -- who could fault that? I collect them myself.

But it is also Nicole Linden who put the card dispensors on some players' private land as well as on Linden land. I questioned this as a form of Linden favouritism that I feel has no place in this game.

I then asked if I, too, could get Linden card dispensors on my land -- why am a lesser mortal? At first the answer was a scornful -- anybody can get them, so why are you complaining? Fuck you. But when I contacted Nicole, I just got no answer for days...and then finally *another* Linden came on and said "We're not going to have the Linden card dispensors on private land anymore.*

Good. That's the right thing to do. And all kinds of people applauded me for that because they want to end the climate of exclusionism and favouritism that sometimes develops around older players and the Lindens. And others hated me bitterly, and even took matters further, because they resented like hell that I interrupted what could have been a huge traffic flow to their land in the card quest, something a few FIC benefited from and a few other FIC would no doubt have also gotten their connections to work, which was supplied to them by the Lindens. (Their protests that they don't "need" traffic and they are just here to serve mankind etc. really don't cut it with me.)

There's more to the next episode of this story, but contact me in-game if you'd like to hear it.

Next thing I know is that a fellow named Devlin Gallant is sending me a huggy bear, and it has Nicole Linden as its creator. He is some kind of 2003 player, possibly with newer alts, I know nothing about him or his importantance.

Somehow, either Nicole made him this bear, or just gave him the template. Lordfly saw that the bear was going around his inner circle, but not being quite as connected as he liked, perhaps, he asked for the template and his friends in the FIC were only to happy to oblige.

From there we began to see a new line of FIC bears -- and I merely commented, as the latest episode in this saga, "why am I not surprised that these bears created by Nicole Linden are being given with mod perms turned on".

I don't know about you, but my copies of Brent's bear and Pathfinder's bear made by Nicole Linden say this about the perms: "You cannot modify this object."

Obviously, the mods will be turned on for some :D

So it's right and proper for me to ask: will Nicole Linden be turning on the mods and freeing up this object to be given out to the community at large? Or only just to the select few?

If people find that a rude and nasty and cranky fact to be commenting on, I don't care. I think it important to point out these connections and these privilegings sometimes even if they are about a silly thing like a bear. Because sometimes they are about things way more important than bears, and a bear is a status symbol in any event.

I know I'm disliked for pointing out these less attractive features of the favouritism and favour-banking in SL, often very subtle, and certainly not the conspiratorial cabal that Forseti satirized -- it's a game after all.

But then, a bear isn't going to be made of *me*, a voodoo doll will be made with pins to prick in it. I'll be looking to see if the creator is Nicole Linden, and whether the perms were turned on.

That will have to wait until 1.8 when we get the new permission "anyone but Prokofy"

I got the Linden default bear from a Linden who was tired of me stalking him. He hadn't made his own yet,. Or else he gave me the wrong one. Oh, and the default bears are modifiable Prok. Otherwise the other Lindens could't use em to make their own. Anybody wants one I will send them one. Or a Devlin Bear. I sent mine to Prok cause I love him.

BTW. I want bears! If you have a bear of yourself, I WANT IT! That goes for you too, Prok. Make a bear. Gimme, gimme, gimme! Cherubs need teddies to make them feel special.

Helpful tip: when you right-click an object owned by someone else, it always says "You cannot modify this object" regardless of the set permissions. This is because you can't modify someone else's stuff. The spot you need to look at in that window is at the bottom. The three check boxes, while greyed out, should still be visible.

I suspect that in this case (as in others that you've mentioned before), that you've incorrectly read that message as an indicator of the object's permissions. I hope that helps.

I really hate to defend Prokofy, as it makes me feel all icky inside, but in this case you are wrong, Cubey.

He clearly stated his copy of the bears, not one he was examining that belonged to someone else. And he is correct... the completed Linden bears are no-mod, no-copy, transferable, just like the Linden cards. That's what makes them collectable.

Unfortunately all it takes is ONE bear to be mistakenly handed out without perms and it can be distributed freely. I think more than a few designers have been burned by this, and it is *possible* that perhaps a bear got released this way rather than a conspiracy.
I think thanks to your diligence prok, Lindens are getting more and more strict instructions on how they are to deal with residents. Personally, I don't like this, I don't want SL to turn into TSO, WoW, GenericMMO, where Lindens start responding like scripted GMs instead of actual people who take situations and problems and give them individual attention and resolutions.

I do hope you had a good weekend Prok and I hope you find some things in your life that bring you happiness so all of this nonsense won't get to you.

I agree with Si, Prok just fuck off, I mean really your shitty input isn't wanted EVERYWHERE the people that DON'T like you are posting, how bout you get a life, and stop butting in other people's!

========================================================

Who the hell do you think you are, telling someone to fuck off. What a horrible, nasty little post. I am too polite to tell you where to go.

For your information, even though I don't agree with Prokofy 100 percent of the time, I would rather read his posts which are a lot more productive and well thought out than yours.

Thank you for your input, but I am, as well as everyone else, entitled to my own opinion, you dont have to like it, and I am sorry that you dont, but its my right to say what I have to say, I posted that knowing that there would be some people that didnt agree with what I had to say, or how I stated it, BUT like I said before, I can say what I want, when I want, and how I want :) so thank you again for your words, but they really werent needed :D

I think maybe Camie is just getting frustrated. She can put someone on ingore but she can't make EVERYBODY put them on ignore. So even if she is doing all the right things, it doesn't stop a thread she cares about from going down the tubes.

Despite the innately controversial nature of teddy bears, I'm going to try to press on with this.

Aimee's bears are so cute, but primmier than the Linden bear template; The Aimee Bear and the Lordfly Bear have 56 and 44 prims respectively, while the Devlin Bear has 20. Aimee's bears are so cute they make me go "Awwww" (I know, I know, blech)... but they also remind me a bit of Teddy Ruxpin, who was admittedly somewhat creepy. I wonder if Teddy has shown up in any of the "Chuckie" horror movies yet... :D

(And BTW, Aimee, it's amazing how much stuff you make in SL; you must rarely sleep. :) )

No, we're working on a Prokofy voodoo doll. It comes with all the free pins and other sharp objects you could want.

You forgot that it has to be able to spit out verbal diarrhea at a rate of 6 paragraphs per second.
