Where I gre up, there was this place called Al's. It was a little house that had been converted to a grocery store. The owner (Al) used to cook meals on demand in the small kitchen in back. He made the best burger I have ever had in my life. Nothing else even cones close.

Al's burgers weighed a full pound. They were charred, greasy, sloppy, and oh so good. I've never had anything like it before or since. I don't know what he put in there, but it was fantastic. I would have to say a hamburger made by Al of Al's groceries in Manville, NJ is the best sandwich in the world (if he's still there, that is. It's been 15 years or so.)

Beyond that, I'm always a sucker for a good chicken finger sub. Sadly though, you folks who don't live in Buffalo haven't the slightest clue how to make them properly (just like you don't know how to make wings right) so I can guarantee you you have no idea what I'm talking about if you're not from here. Tons of hot sauce, load up the blue cheese, lettuce, onions, whatever else you can find from the garden, life doesn't get much better.

Exactly what I was going to say, except I'll have to try the honey - I've never used that before.

I also like Bacon and Tomato sandwhiches - white bread and mayo of course.

Mmmm, a local coffee house serves this roasted turkey sandwich:

1. Hard Italian roll cut thick
2. Smoked turkey breast
3. Vigegrette (sp?)
4. Romaine
5. Granny smith apple slices
6. Light mayo

C'est manifique! A mourir pour!

1) Jamaican beef patty with Coco bread from Flatbush Ave in Brooklyn.

2) Milanesa Torta from Piolin Tortas in Chihuahua, Chihuahua.

3) Reuben from Houston St. near the Westside highway in the village, Manhattan. Cannot remember the name of the Deli!

I also think Grilled Cheese straight up is a serious fucking classic. And a sandwich born out of necessity and economic hardship. The simplicity and the deliciousness…WoW! Inspirational! :D

Grilled cheese hands down. Or hands up for that matter. Just hand it over, and no one gets hurt. Damn, now I'm hungry.

BLT - crispy bacon, lettuce, home-grown juicy tomato, light mayo, on white bread. Mmm.

I say combine BLT and grilled cheese.

First, grill one side of each bread slice with butter. Then, top with cheese and bacon, and place in oven, till cheese is bubbly. Then add lettuce and tomato.

Or: Fresh mozzarella, tomato, lettuce and bacon, with a bit of balsamic vinegar, on a roll or hero.

Pretty much anything with bacon is good. ;)

I'm with Siohban on the fried bacon/egg sandwich. Yummy. I also love a good steak sandwich with fried onions and some hot mustard.

I'm your standard Canadian born Canadian citizen.... and I looove many different types of sandwitches. I don't think there are many that i dont like.

One that really stands out, besides a good hamburger.. is a Shawarma. It's sold in Lebaneese and Greek establishments all over the city. And trust me, around here, we take it seriously. It also rocks your tastebuds in the best way. :)

Ooh, I'd forgotten that one!

I discovered Shawarma at a small restaurant in S.F. The cooks there prepped chicken on a vertical rotisserie, and then hacked at it with a serrated knife to get flakes for the sammich.

Put some of yer standard goodies from that part of the world on it (feta cheese, etc.) and it is a sandwich worth braving rush-hour Frisco traffic for.
