I often wonder why Americans are so adverse to learning or at least facilitating the use of the Spanish language. Would it be so wrong to actually be able to speak two languages? Besides, Spanish is a blast!

I have to wonder why, when most countries decide on an "official language", the US never has. Is it because weare a "melting pot"?" Not sure. Myself, I think taking one foreign language should be required. It is where I live and I am happy about that. I am (or used to be) fluent in German, and can get by conversationally in Spanish and Korean although my Spanish grammar leaves a lot to be desired and my Korean is limited to conversational needs, I cannot read or write anything in it except my name. Even with my own personal limitations, I am happy that I possess these skills and wish more folks saw the value of learning an alternate tongue(s). _____________________
