Sorry didn't think that I was being tested or that you would want to pin me down into your personal conotation of the non-word 'lib'....but touche moi you caught me thinking which means that I could never be a 'pub'...whatever.
So I suppose now I can call you are a Right wing christian fundamentalist neo con psuedo intellectual elitist, this is a pigeon hole party, isn't it. Open your mind before your mouth, try actually reading the party platform you ascribe to as well as the one's of those whom you dismiss so freely and with great prejudice. Otherwise, I will continue to think you a narrowminded fool and seperatist hell bent on defaming half the country in some vain attempt to forward an agenda you know little about.

Yeehaw for that there party of y'awls! Viver ler Republicans!

A Liberal:

[n] a person who favors a political philosophy of progress and reform and the protection of civil liberties
[n] a person who favors an economic theory of laissez-faire and self-regulating markets
[adj] tolerant of change; not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy, or tradition
[adj] showing or characterized by broad-mindedness; "a broad political stance"; "generous and broad sympathies"; "a liberal newspaper"; "tolerant of his opponent's opinions"
[adj] not literal; "a loose interpretation of what she had been told"; "a free translation of the poem"
[adj] given or giving freely; "was a big tipper"; "the bounteous goodness of God"; "bountiful compliments"; "a freehanded host"; "a handsome allowance"; "Saturday's child is loving and giving"; "a liberal backer of the arts"; "a munificent gift"; "her fond and openhanded grandfather"
[adj] having political or social views favoring reform and progress

So by definition, I am a liberal. I admit it, hell, I'm proud of it. I believe in progress, reform (where necessary), protection of civil liberties and a balanced budget. I am also broad minded and I believe that pro-creation is a personal choice and I don't care who you do it with as long as they are of age and able to consent.

As it stands, the ONLY thing that I can think of that Bush has done to further the progress of this nation is his support of NASA and his desire to increase NASA's budget to fund new missions to send a man back to the moon and eventually to explore Mars.

Unfortunately - Bush's stand on stem-cell research, the environment and his pandering to the religious right on reproductive issues somewhat negates that for me.

Perhaps Social Security does need to be reformed, but based on the debt that he has already placed our nation in, I have no confidence in his ability to produce a better plan than we already have.

The absolute clincher for me, of course, is the blatant abuse of our civil liberties, though sweeping law reform such as the Patriots Act. To his credit however, he alone is not responsible for that and the "liberals" in the White House have been as guilty of trampling on civil liberties as have the "conservatives".

Last but not least, is the war in Iraq. The 911 Commission found that Saddam had absolutely NOTHING to do with the attacks on the world trade center. All but four of the Hijackers were Saudi, NONE of the hijackers were Iraqi. Nor could the commission tie the funding for the operation back to any Iraqi forces, but they could to Saudi's.

So WHY did we not go in and bomb the crap out of Saudi Arabia instead of Iraq?

Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction, but we would have know that if we had allowed the UN Weapons inspectors to do their job before we bombed the shit out of Iraq.

The only thing that I can figure is that the people who we have elected to run our country are really, really, stupid or very, very, duplicitous.

Either way - I feel very uneasy with them representing me as an American Citizen.
