A few weeks ago I had asked on the forums if there would be interest from the community in a sim dedicated for the new user experience. The responses I have received from that thread and IW have been great, so I bought the island and named it Cabinhead.

Presently it is not visible unless you are on the access list. This is just temporary until we get the infrastructure finished up.

The basic idea behind Cabinhead is simply to have a lag free, friendly environment to help new users learn their potential in Second Life.

I would like to have a meeting this wednesday evening with the people who are interested in helping with this project. We really need your help to make this work, if helping new users in an organized manner is something you are interested in, please stop by. I will turn the island to open access for this meeting.

We have also set up a forums and Wiki at www.Cabinhead.com
While the website is not nearly complete, please take a few moments to sign up for the forums and wiki.

We DESPERATELY need more class outlines entered into the wiki. We hope that all instructors teaching will enter their class outline into the wiki. This will help new and old instructors teach more standardized classes. It will also allow new users the opportunity to browse class outlines if there is not a class being held when they want to learn.

Just haven't had time to figure out it I want to start from installation or what, which could suck up a whole class slot.

You know what I loved as a newbie were the classes where you built a chicken or a cow or a barn. They had an example of what you would build and then walked you through the steps to build it.

I just logged in and posted two outlines for plant and animal creation but I'm not at all sure if they would up where they should have.
