Ok, I just asked a friend of mine (who shall go nameless) and he will consider funding tartarus. HOWEVER, I need to get a poll to see if we can profit off this (since he owns a company, he wants to see profits!). First thing I need to do is poll Second Life residents, please answer the following questions, if you do I will pay you 10L$ in game. Now, onto the questions! PLEASE KEEP IT SERIOUS(Hard for me to say too, but please!) Sorry for abrupt post, but im incredibly excited!

1.Would you play Tartarus?(Tartarus Information Here)

2.How much would you be willing to spend on the Tartarus battle system, the apartments, and other misc tartarus items? (Weapons, vehicles, armor, furniture, clothing)

3.How much time would you spend in Tartarus (Considering we have a large population)?

4. Would you mind an occasional advertisement (in the form of billboard or radio ad that fits in with the theme)? (Please answer no, since this MAY lower our costs)

Thank you for reading, and thank you for your participation in tartarus!

Edit: All funds are in L$, and please on question 2 give a specific amount(since that can give us a more accurate reading)! Also note that the price wont be over 1 day, tartarus is an ongoing project which will last months if not years.

1. i'd prolly try it but i'm not much for scifi and especially not much for fighting games so it would be to see the builds and texturing and scripting more than anything.

2. not much. :) hopefully it's free to walk around and spectate.

3. i dunno, how big is it? by population do you mean players, people who live there full time, malfunctioning killer robots or what?

4. doesn't matter to me.

I'd likely pay to play a well designed battle system, but it'd probably be in L$, since it's just tougher to transact stuff here otherwise - unless theres another system in place?

its all in L$ :)

As to answer other questions.

"If there was always action, you could call it my third home"
if there are always players :D

"hopefully it's free to walk around and spectate. "
Of course :) But to participate in battle it costs bling bling(money).

"i dunno, how big is it? by population do you mean players, people who live there full time, malfunctioning killer robots or what?"

Yes, other players, but there will be 'hunting zones' where you can kill malfunctioning robots for L$.

1.Would you play Tartarus?

Yes.

From: someone
2.How much would you be willing to spend on the Tartarus battle system, the apartments, and other misc tartarus items? (Weapons, vehicles, armor, furniture, clothing)

It's hard apply an amount since there are so many things listed here, so I'll just say I would be willing to pay some L$ for these things. (I'm assuming everything will be in L$ since we are talking about SL here.). As with most games, the amount would be entirely dependant on the addictiveness of the game. If it's enticing, I'd keep spending. If not, I wouldn't.

From: someone
3.How much time would you spend in Tartarus (Considering we have a large population)?

Probably a few hours a week. However, if it's an addictive game a few hours could easily become a few dozen hours.

4. Would you mind an occasional advertisement (in the form of billboard or radio ad that fits in with the theme)? (Please answer no, since this MAY lower our costs)!

I don't mind ads as long as they don't get in the way.

1.Would you play Tartarus?(Tartarus Information Here)

not likely if it's based on the Linden protocols and client. My hardware just isn't up to FPS-style anything with the SL interface.

some on clothing. I'd just about *kill* for decent transportation.

Probably not a lot. I like the non-genre locked and nnon-directive virtual worlds.

1.Would you play Tartarus? Some.

2.How much would you be willing to spend on the Tartarus battle system, the apartments, and other misc tartarus items? (Weapons, vehicles, armor, furniture, clothing)
no more then 1000$L for Weapons, armor, furniture, clothing combined
apartments no more then 75$L a week
vehicles no more then 400$L
bullets should be dirt cheep.

3.How much time would you spend in Tartarus (Considering we have a large population)?
2->5 hours a week

4. Would you mind an occasional advertisement (in the form of billboard or radio ad that fits in with the theme)? (Please answer no, since this MAY lower our costs)
only if it fits into the theme.

Ryen: I'm a bit hard pressed for time. I'm working on another combat system. While it could be used for Tartarus with some extentions and simplifications; it's not finished. I've come up with a solution to the respawning problem.

Strife, dont worry, I still need to contact you about the details. This is only for the city portion and SOME combat related items, but this poll is only to see how many people would play and what they would spend on it.

1.Would you play Tartarus?(Tartarus Information Here)

Yes, sounds very cool.

2.How much would you be willing to spend on the Tartarus battle system, the apartments, and other misc tartarus items? (Weapons, vehicles, armor, furniture, clothing)

I'm cheap but I'll buy quality items if they're priced fairly.

3.How much time would you spend in Tartarus (Considering we have a large population)?

1-10 hours a week, depends on my schedule, I do a lot of things around SL.

4. Would you mind an occasional advertisement (in the form of billboard or radio ad that fits in with the theme)? (Please answer no, since this MAY lower our costs)

Keep it in theme, and I'm okay with it, a well placed billboard in SL is something I have yet to see but wouldn't mind once I do see it. (can think of one in a private island project, but it was still in the works)

1.Would you play Tartarus?(Tartarus Information Here)

Very likely yes, if only for the sake of trying something that looks so exciting :) (I fall easily when cyberpunk is mentioned, haha)

2.How much would you be willing to spend on the Tartarus battle system, the apartments, and other misc tartarus items? (Weapons, vehicles, armor, furniture, clothing)

That'd honestly depend. If there are really interesting items I want, I could probably blow up 3k on them in a few minutes. That'd depend on how fairly they're priced, too (I don't expect it to be dirt cheap, but I also don't want to pay 1k for a string and a pair of socks). Appartments I don't know, maybe if we can choose between big/medium/small ones. Battle system... hard to tell, if I like it, prolly "enough to be able to play, but not tons because it will be an alternate activity to my regular SL only".

3.How much time would you spend in Tartarus (Considering we have a large population)?
Once again, depends - on the time I have to play, if I have clothing requests to fulfill, etc. I would probably spend several hours a week (5-6 at least?) if there ae "events" to attend there and I have the time to do so (events as in, "any gathering of people", whether it be for fights or something else). Also, I would probablty spend some time just to look at it, too.

4. Would you mind an occasional advertisement (in the form of billboard or radio ad that fits in with the theme)? (Please answer no, since this MAY lower our costs)

Not in such a place, as billboards would BE a part of it! (You mention Bladerunner, well that's exactly it). I WOULD mind uncessant chat-advertisement though, because this is really annoying when trying to talk with people and have some kind of social activity; but billboards are okay, and if they're well-done graphics-wise, it's even better. And radio-ads... if by this you mean running a an audio stream with occasional ads, that's oka ywith me too, as it's easy to turn it off if it becomes annoying (okay yo ucan also mute the chat ads, but I fine them really more annoying than audio ads).

Hope this helps :)

1. possibly
2. minimal - no real money... but maybe $L..
3. less than three hours per week
4. yes. Spam me and I will never visit and will talk very nastily about you to all my firends and family. (I am serious.. not nasty, but very serious)

Probably not the answers you are looking for.. but honest ones nonetheless.

1. Yes.

2. Like Ice, I'm cheap, so very little, nothing over current prices for usual SL stuff, i.e. following current pricing of typical items. You could naturaly have "rare" weapons and such, simular to the seburo in pricing, but if all guns/items are really expensive, no dice.

3. Probably very little, however I would pop in once in awhile, not sure how often though, or how long. However it all depends on how much I enjoy it.

4. No, but only in the form of billboards that do not spam chat, or radio ads as you mentioned. Be sure to read over the TOS and CS and contact LL on what types of advertisement would be ok (I'm sure you will, but just saying :P).

And you can keep your 10L$ :)

Ryen,

1.Would you play Tartarus? Probably not.

2.How much would you be willing to spend on the Tartarus battle system, the apartments, and other misc tartarus items? (Weapons, vehicles, armor, furniture, clothing)
I might spend a relatively small amount (50 - 500k) on trying it out, but I suspect it's not really my thing.

3.How much time would you spend in Tartarus (Considering we have a large population)?
Probably not more than 10m unless it happened to really grab me.

4. Would you mind an occasional advertisement (in the form of billboard or radio ad that fits in with the theme)? (Please answer no, since this MAY lower our costs)
Radio - no probs. Billboards - they would be more objectionable the more prominent (ie successful) they were.

Probably not. Dark and gritty would be fun to walk through and check out, but I probably wouldn't want to spend much time there.

That being said, not much else to say in regards to your other questions.

But, I love the IDEA behind it. The idea of having an area that is fully interactive, side-missions, quests, etc. So, I fully support your creativeness and willing to do something like this for the community.

Best of luck to you!!

No, but the idea is interesting.

2.How much would you be willing to spend on the Tartarus battle system, the apartments, and other misc tartarus items? (Weapons, vehicles, armor, furniture, clothing)
Not more than L$100

3.How much time would you spend in Tartarus (Considering we have a large population)?
I'd go look at it then fly home.

4. Would you mind an occasional advertisement (in the form of billboard or radio ad that fits in with the theme)? (Please answer no, since this MAY lower our costs)
No, wouldn't mind as long as its ads for SL stuff.

1) Probably not. It may be fun to visit....but to be honest, where *I'm* concerned, SL is about building and exploring...as opposed to "gaming". I'm also not sure that the SL hardware would be up to it being a great experience in preference to say one of the cypunk worlds like Neocron.
2)That to me would depend on whether I was involved........ie if someone was to play..then they would spend L$'s, I probably wouldn't spend anything, as it's not my scene. (I MAY be tempted by clothing...spending a fair amount as I do elsewhere in SL..:), but purely for my benefit elsewhere.
3)Maybe 10 minutes or so occasionally...simply to see what it's like. (Having siad that, I haven't set foot in Jessie for example since my first week a year ago!)
4) That wouldnt bother me at all.
Sorry if these are not what you want...simply trying to help your survey.....good luck

Yep

2.How much would you be willing to spend on the Tartarus battle system, the apartments, and other misc tartarus items? (Weapons, vehicles, armor, furniture, clothing)
$L only and it would depend. Will maintaining an apartment be a requirement ? Probably $500L per week

3.How much time would you spend in Tartarus (Considering we have a large population)?
An hour or so a day possibly

4. Would you mind an occasional advertisement (in the form of billboard or radio ad that fits in with the theme)? (Please answer no, since this MAY lower our costs)
No I would not mind so long as I can drill Ryen between the eyes once a week with his own open source weaponry.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for your participation in tartarus!
You owe me nothing friend.

1) YES

2) 1500 max for weapon systems, Vehicles would depend on the vehicle! (Make on my own maybe? :P) other thsan that 1500 max on vehicles too.

3) As long as there is something to do, LOTS OF TIME.

4) I Dont see why not. After all, Every urban scene in Futuristic Sci-Fi movies have cities of billboards with some buildings around/in them. :)

EDIT: TYPOS. Points to my description.

1) Maybe, depending on final quality
2) L$250-300/max
3) Hour/two per week.
4) Not at all. :)

3. I dunno. Never really been much of an SL gamer. Probably not much.

1. For Sure! Count me in after seeing the initial beta tests.

2. 100-200 a week?

3. Plenty of time. If there is nothing to do, at least a nicely themed area to script.

4. If the ads are for fictional companies in the Tartarus world, yes. Otherwise, SL has enough ads. NO.

Best of luck with the project. Glad to hear that it is coming back.
