Jimmy "Texturemaster" Thomson... muhahaha... ;) I like your album, Edward. Great way to lay out memories of your Second Life.

Perhaps if they allowed random people to enter their names in a raffle for an advance showing, and then took a few tour groups of those chosen through the site, it might dispel some of the grumbling.

Beryl, this is a good idea, and gridverse raffles in the past (SL Public Library Fundraiser, Toys For Tots) have been the specialty of Jade Lily and Robin Huber. A future one as you describe might not have to be so vast, but in any case, it's definitely something to consider for future Bedazzle projects. Some will grumble anyhoo -- but that's fine, because as long as they're posting about our projects, it sparks interest and discussion. I like to look at the positivity within.

Alright, just asking: who's taken Bub up on his offer? :D

None of my images on my website have been photoshopped. I run SL on all very low settings so those with a crappy vid card who run SL on low set's, take a look at what you're seeing.

http://www.dtr-eddie.9cy.com/sl.html

It's so much better in person then photo's IMHO. :D

Now that was very nice of you. I can really see a difference but I am still impressed. The Darkness really lends its self well to hiding some of SLs flaws -- yet is bright enough in all the right places.. I saw a few mistakes here and there (namely in http://www.dtr-eddie.9cy.com/sl/chinatown_016.jpg ).. But I doubt many people will notice or even viewer will care -- if it's not fixed. I like the textured lighting effect.

Like I was saying about this not having a huge impact on second life on a whole.. I don't know many people who will be jumping up and down to do that, nor "waste" the prims on a reflection effect.. The corona/flares are very nice, but I'm wondering how will it holds up under motion. Out of curiousity, how big is the place, anyways?

Anyways, while my opinions stand, I apologize for being a grouch to Chosen Few. :P

Apology gratiously accepted, Kayin. Thank you for being a big enough person to be able to discuss a difference of opinion in a mature fashion. I'll let the subject drop now, and just hope you will be as pleasently suprised as I think you will when you finally see it.

What happened to the days when we cheered each other on and gave credit where it was due? Must everything amazing be greeted with cries of favoritism, trickery, and competitive grudgery? Sheesh. If Bedazzle wasn't being put on a pedestal for this I'd be building them one. Anything exceptionally well done deserves praise because it's good for all of us. I'm starting to think that SL should be renamed "Nitpick: The Game!"

Couldn't agree more, Chip. The culture of SL somehow took a 90 degree turn over the last few months. It used to be chock full of only the friendliest, nicest, most supportive people I've ever seen on the net. Now those voices are constantly drowned out by whines, complaints, cries of jealousy, and conspiracy theories. I guess all we can do is continue to be who we are and do our best not to let all that rub off on us.

A very wise person once told me, "The best thing you can do to help the poor is not to become one of them." I thin we can rephrase that here as, "The best thing we can do to help SL rise above the current wave of complainers is not to become complainers ourselves." Thanks for the reminder, Chip.

I am with Chosen on this. Chinatown is BEAUTIFUL and filled with some great design ideas (all of which I plan on stealing).

Aimee... you gotta learn this... its not stealing, its:

"TAKING INSPIRATION FROM" as in ";(all of which I plan on taking inspiration from)."

:-)

I'd be happy to see if some of these "oh so profound critics" can build anything better than what's in Chinatown... or any other "overrated fabulous place".

It's soooo easy to talk the talk. But can you walk the walk?

Hmmm, there will be no beating anybody senseless on my land, not into that... but I have toyed with the concept of tying up Bub's av and forcing him to eat really stinky cheese, or something. But then, I'm just weird (and fetid). :p
