As far as I can tell from the "popular places" in the "find" menu. The dwell is still being calculated by LL. Or are those numbers completly off also?

Those numbers reflect the 0 also... and not everyone is getting 0's . Like I said I know I won't be at the top of the list but don't deserve to be at the bottom either...no one does that had dwell but got 0's.

Well then perhaps the best solution would be for LL to wipe the lists also. If most aren't getting dwell then no one should be getting dwell/advertizing. Seems fair to me. What do you think?

Again, what these individuals (most of them) are saying is this:

It's NOT the money.

It's the fact that their plots of land are not being listed on the Find/Popular Places listing.

Users use that as a basis of finding "new" and/or "exciting" things to do or go see.

With their dwell being reset to "0" -- they are removed from that listing.

It's not about money to many of them -- it's about the "free advertising" in the Find/Popular places listing.

That's what I'm trying to get across to both Nikki/Ryen and Cat.

They are losing the "free advertising" courtesy of LL by their lots being reset to "0" dwell and taken off the Popular list.

LL created the dwell algorithm, put it up in a form of daily payment and also tied it into "free-world advertising" courtesy of the Find button. Now that aspect is broken, so it looks like a lot of new and exciting places are just... zilch.

Not making any judgements here but I can understand why you were misunderstood Lynn in your original post you also said;

"Dwell is used for the Dwelloper Awards, for daily money payouts; BUT it is also used as a way of marketing/advertising locations, popular locations -- usually "fun" locations."

I think its just a misunderstanding.

Well still in the end... Why not reset everyone to 0 or stop the reward for this month cause this just means, once again the contest provided by LL for the top 2% is unfairly stacked against anyone getting 0 dwell. Cause there are those that do care and that treat that reward as part of thier "GAME"

A perspective from the flip side:

I don't care about places I own getting dwell or not. However, a few days ago, I started looking into setting up a few vendor spots for the first time. I hardly ever go out to the malls or markets anymore so I didn't know where the popular spots are these days. With dwell being unreliable / sporadicly accumulated, it's not easy for me to find the best places to set up a couple of trial vendors... and I'm definitely not established enough yet to be just renting a spot at every place that has "mall", "market", etc in the name.

just my $0.02... you can keep the change.

Yesterday, I checked the listings. And there were no places listed under "Popular Places." And every place had zero dwell. That's what showed on my screen. *shrugs*

Yeah because we just don’t have enough to complain about, lets bitch & moan about the fact that a few people aren’t getting their FREE advertising that they’ve grown accustom to.

Anyone who is affected by this is just going to have to deal. It's a temporary problem that LL is aware of… & I’m sure it’ll be fixed soon.

While I can understand your frustration and anger at your perceived "dwellopers" -- please also realize that it was both your initial and continued lack of understanding of the content of my posts that caused me to continue replying.

And as I said, there will be a time when this forum is populated to it's utmost with your latest creation, I am sure that others feel the same way about your project as you have so negatively spoken here about new creations.

Yes, & these are my thoughts & feelings on the issue. If you don’t like them… too bad, so sad. I’ve never told you not to post. Frankly, I feel this subject has been drawn out & there aren’t any constructive things that can really be said about it. We have to wait for LL to fix it & hope it doesn’t happen again for a while. That’s the only logical option.

I have no anger towards “dwellopers” I have defended them in other threads. I think they are very important to our society & future growth. Though I’ll admit the “hot spots” are not the places I tend to go to. Also, you keep claiming that I don’t understand you… yet never back up these claims. I invite you to scrutinize any of my posts to actually show me where there is a “lack of understanding” because I think I’m hearing the petty whining loud and clear…

The way I see it is Ryen is simply sick of seeing these threads… I see no negativity in this particular thread against new creations & I think you’re stretching the lost free advertising bit too far by trying to correlate the two.

Yeah for everyone who hasn’t seen it time & time again when certain people don’t like what I have to say… I’m an alt… deal with it! Do I need to make that my friggin sig? shit…

Since you seem to take the creative versus mall/dance populace, can't you understand when a new creative build is made and the disappointment in losing the free advertising? It's not a stretch, as both of you can attest.

Oh Miss Lynn, It is a stretch. These people unfortunately had bad timing in choosing when to promote. (I'm sure we've all been dealt our SL blows) Given that dwell has been wonky lately, if being on that list & getting free advertising is that important of a factor they should have waited till dwell was more stable. I personally think a good event & word of mouth is better advertising than showing up on those day later dwell lists anyways.

There is nothing that can be done about it now.. except for LL fixing it & hopefully taking better measures to prevent dwell bugs in the future. Anywho, I'm finished beating the dead horse here..
