Dwell - Really bad named, sinice its never around

Sunday, no dwell award, dwell goes to 0.

Monday afternoon, dwell awarded for Sunday, still no dwell number.

Tuesday, Dwell still 0, no awards

Wednesday, Dwell still 0, no awards

Like others have said, the points on maps make it nice, that and if you do want to try for the top 2% cash awards, its kinda hard to do if dwell isnt tracking at all.

But worrying about dwell is stupid, its just a few linden a day and doesnt really matter, you should just be doing it for the fun of it.

I got paid 10L for dwell once but I thought it must be an error.
At most I get 1 dwell usually.

You're going to get your money eventually, and the reason the Dwell is 0 right now is because LL keeps triggering the bugs that make it happen on purpose, just to make sure they have all the bugs tracked down so they can fix them.

M, I don't think you get the gist of this problem.

It's not about money.

It's about a wonderful attraction to SL not being "seen" on the top dwell locations of the day.

It makes wonderful new places for fun and excitement seem as if they are *not* because no one is ever there, according to dwell.

Dwell is used for the Dwelloper Awards, for daily money payouts; BUT it is also used as a way of marketing/advertising locations, popular locations -- usually "fun" locations.

LL built it in so that the popular places would show up based on dwell.

Others have posted that they worked 16 hours on "special events" and "special projects" for their sims -- only to have it reset back to "0" while other locations are not affected.

Please be a little understanding when people post about why they are upset when their dwell is reset back to "0" -- sometimes it's not about money. It's about playing the "game" the way the rules are set up, only to find that a bug keeps kicking them in the ass day after day after day.

If you're playing the "game" where all you care about is getting your daily dwell & appearing on the most popular places lists... I'm not going to sympathize.

I realize people work hard on certain projects & all but there are several ways to advertise. In general the top ranked on those lists are the places I try to avoid.

There are way too many bugs right now… dwell is one of them, LL knows it & they are trying to fix it, people will be compensated, get over it.

The "game" dear Nikki is the game of getting your plot of land, your creation, your hard work and sweat equity on the Popular Places list daily.

It's not something that any of the user-based created, the "game" is one created by LL themselves.

I'm losing then

That is not part of the game for me & it isn’t for the majority of people who are actually dwelling at these places… Everyone has their own game. If dwell & appearing on those lists that change daily is what’s really important to you, you’re missing out in my opinion.

No Nikki, once again you are missing the meaning of my sarcasm.

The "game" of dwell was created by LL and supported by LL.

But now their little "game" isn't working.


It's not my game, and you know it.

You may now return to your regularly scheduled alt.

Maybe its a player exploit causing the entire dwelloper awards system to implode in a large crash.

Or not.

Maybe it's time for SL to grow up and lose childish, game-ish holdovers like ratings and dwell. Maybe it's time for LL to act on their own white paper objectives and take SL into a "realer" world by cooperating with residents to define more sophisticated alternatives -- that work.

Lynn when did you get that condesending tone? Please understand a lot of ppl dont play sl to make money they just enjoy the artistic side of sl Everyone is allowed their opinions. I repect yours too.

I don't care about the money from dwell...I don't care about the dwellopers incentive. I do care that I took a lot of time and my money to build something that I think will be unique( once its tottally finished. I don't need to be at the top of popular places or the top of places. 0 Dwell the last few days when I know I had a lot of people checking out my project just SUCKS especially when I'm laying out the same money as the people whose dwell showed.

No, I get you Lynn, land game, dwell game, rating games, all sorts of games... set up by LL to put more L$ in your virtual pockets.

Vote boxes needed to go though because they were an extremely un-reliable method of rewarding L$ to players for their efforts. Here's our replacement system & although it's been buggy recently, it’s been a improvement & I can’t see them changing this system for quite a while. I don't know that we can ever get away from LL giving L$ on a daily basis now, because some people would become un-interested in SL because they choose to play that part of the “game”

I know it isn’t your bag. But it is for other people… & to each their own I guess, SL is big enough for me to do my own thing inworld & avoid the people that do get their undies in a bunch over this sort of bs.

You need to read again...I don't care about the monetary aspect of dwell....it's the numbers. Monday I had a lot of people around all day....tuesday the dwell was 0....anyone not on the boards doesn't know why the numbers are at 0 they just see a 0 and figure must not be much to that place. Contrary to popular belief people do go by numbers and will pass up a 0 for someone with a high dwell number.

As far as I can tell from the "popular places" in the "find" menu. The dwell is still being calculated by LL. Or are those numbers completly off also?

Again, what these individuals (most of them) are saying is this:

It's NOT the money.

It's the fact that their plots of land are not being listed on the Find/Popular Places listing.

Users use that as a basis of finding "new" and/or "exciting" things to do or go see.

With their dwell being reset to "0" -- they are removed from that listing.

It's not about money to many of them -- it's about the "free advertising" in the Find/Popular places listing.

That's what I'm trying to get across to both Nikki/Ryen and Cat.

They are losing the "free advertising" courtesy of LL by their lots being reset to "0" dwell and taken off the Popular list.

LL created the dwell algorithm, put it up in a form of daily payment and also tied it into "free-world advertising" courtesy of the Find button. Now that aspect is broken, so it looks like a lot of new and exciting places are just... zilch.
