Sandbox Shouldn't be Connected to Mainland

I don't think the Sandbox should be connected to the mainland. No, prims are not flying into the veichle sims. Here's why I think this:

The world is set up to have urban (heavily populated) and rural (unpopulated) areas by placing telehubs accordingly, right? Well, no one's LIVING in Cardova (well, not normal people) so why should we have to take that long fly when we could just teleport there if it's not connected to the rest of the grid? If it's not connected it wouldn't mess with the urban/rural thing, and we could just go there without flying. This would save MUCH time.

Or just move Cordova out away from the mainland and drop a telehub on it somewhere. ;)

I think it is a complete joy to fly out to the sandbox from the telehub by plane. Its great to see the world created while in a plane!

I'm not sure if that was a joke or not, flying over six essentially empty sims isn't exactly the scenic route. :p

Yeah I say pull the plug on that thing and stick it somewhere else. Or even just leave it where it is and add a telehub.

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

I agree with this.

When I first saw the Island sim, this same thought occurred to me, in combination with what I seen happen in the 1.2 preview world.

We need somewhere to test things that may go completely bonkers (ie alife), and currently we have nowhere to do so safely.

We also need a faster way to get to the sandbox sim.

If Cordova were moved somewhere isolated like the Island sim is, that would be great.

I can't think of any downside to this...

Yes, free the sandbox!

It kinda feels like a bas**** sim, kinda thrown waaayyy down at the bottom underneath the racing ones where it takes you atleast 1-2 mins to get to the thing, not counting if you get lost like me sometimes, lol.

Seperate it, give it its own telehub in a corner of it or something, don't want the telehub getting in the way etc.

I totally agree. I currently reside mostly in Tan and Olive, and getting to the sandbox located *that* south is very very cumbersome. I say, seperate it from the grid and put a telehub in some corner.


Island would've be a good location for a sandbox, save that the entirety is no-build no-script. :rolleyes:

For a little while, Island had a buildable section, and I agree, it makes a pretty good sandbox.

I agree. When working on mobile and/or self-replicating prims you really don't want them to escape!

However, can't this be worked around by tagging the objects as Sandbox only?

Haiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

I want to make an extra suggestion, of a second sim right next to the detached cardova.

This sim will be the MAD SCIENCE sim!


I moved into Mocha a long time ago because it was right next to Olive, the sandbox, and I loved waking up in SL and hearing or seeing something wierd in the air above Olive and wondering, "What in the heck is going on?" and flying over to have a great time playing with the sandbox gang.


I want that back, but currently I can't live anywhere near Cardova.


I know I'm not the only mad scientist who lived and/or lives in Mocha. I would gladly pack up and move to a new sim if one opened up next to the sandbox.


So there's my idea. It would be a niche sim like Jessie. Catering to us wierdos who want to live next to the sandbox.

Why dont you just live IN the sandbox?
Yeah, it gets wiped, but so what. Box up your house and set it up to autorez when you get to Cardova. The rezzor could be an attached prim that unlinks itself, like that gun you can fire on nobuild land, and after being fired it autorezzes everything.
Or you could just pull it out of your inventory manually, but wheres the fun in THAT? :D

I was going to do something like that but the Lindens asked me not to.

They insist that any player builds on linden land will be deleted, and asked me not to make any undeleteable structures, even though I can.

I'm going to be in the minority and vote that the sandbox stay just as it is. I believe that the fact it takes a couple minutes to get there cuts down on random traffic, which brings more people who do annoying things, like rez a dozen 10x10 cubes then leave. Any alternative that puts a teleport platform in Cardova is going to make it harder to work there.

Cardova is way too cluttered these days. People fill the bowl with so much crap that you can't move around properly, and just leave it there. I'm glad that someone put those three new tiers up, with the elevator. That was some good thinking!
