i voted don't care. i'm old enough to automatically uncheck showing avs. boards get kinda laggy when you spend all your time downloading little pics on 286 with a 1200baud modem and old habits die hard. so i have this deeply baked mindset that av pics are silly and useless.
it's probably true that they give some insight into the poster's character. but in sl, i can look at a person's profile pic, actual 3d av, and last name to get a fair idea of their character. btw, i thought only lemons freaked you out? or is that the other eggy? _____________________

I don't have one because any I would create would pale in comparisons to Eggy's. (At least I don't think I have one as I have them turned off as well, mostly to avoid blinky animated GIFs).

I have displaying avatars and signatures turned off (and I praise the admin of this board who made that a default setting)

<----My avatar is on crack, hehe, but I like when others use forum icons. It helps me to quickly scan long threads for posts by a particular person, especially when I am coming back to a post I've read earlier. I guess you either love 'em or hate 'em.

I don't have a forum avatar because I'm afraid that someone will take an upskirt photo of it.
Or draw a mustache on it. Or otherwise derided or trespassed against. I have a hard enough time trying to keep straight that my in-world avatar is not me; if something happened to my poor defenseless forum avatar then I might suffer a psychotic break. That being said, perhaps it is time to begin decorating myself in here. Eggy, if you are serious about helping to set up SL'ers with forum avatars, and do not get buried with requests, I'll happily avail myself of your assistance and take the plunge. |

I don't have one because... well, I don't have one. It's not at the top of my priority list.
But I'll consider it. ![]() _____________________

Checkbox poll? Out of curiosity, did anyone check off all 4?
Eggy, I would use a thumbnail of my SL av for the forum, but I heard that if someone takes a snapshot of my avatar, they will steal its soul, and that option wasn't on the poll. |

Well, thanks to the encouragement from Eggy, I finally nudged myself into motion and got myself an avatar. Even downloaded GIMP so that I could resize it properly. Look forward to seeing it change a few times over the coming weeks.

I had mine made for me by someone i made an ascii for, that was ages ago. The SL forums don't support the size of my usual one (a b&w ascii of shinobu) so i use this one.
and i love cabbits ^_^ so it's all cool. _____________________

I don't care and the size is too small to make a real cool avatar anyways.
