That's only one part of like 100 stanzas of Oz's epic poem... it's kinda like Beowulf but it's called Beshiny. The story is not yet finished. :)

Shiny rawks. I had to do some minor haxoring to forcibly enable it as LL seemed convinced it wouldn't work on my card
I think I'll go with "Ages". It sounds cool. I've always been fond of the Myst series :D
Maybe we could come up with some pretty names instead of just using the version numbers :)

:D

Sure, "Age of Shiny" for starters. Hehe ;)

I forgot about Myst, Eggy. Now I remember it again... I visited the D'ni recreation inworld and that was cool, and I wonder if there'll ever see a recreation of the famous Myst Island. :)

/3/e3/16116/1.html

I'll still email about it though.

I happen to like Era as well - I think it best describes a short period of time that gradually, or sometimes suddenly begins something else.

BTW, in recalling historical events/periods of SL, don't forget the Black Monday in There which resulted in a Cuban refugee like influx of members clamoring for voice chat and hoverboards.

The current period should be called the Big Ass Prim Shoe Era.

Hehe Cris, that was a crazy night.

Could also call this the Dweller Period. :P

Sent an email off for the groups forum, see what they say.

I think version numbers <1.0 would be the First Epoch, and anything (1.0 < 2.0) would be the Second Epoch, with 2.0 on being the Third Epoch, and so forth. In each you'd have Eras. 1.0.x would be the Official Era or whatever you want to call the time when SL went "live" (i.e. beta over with.) 1.1 would be the era of envmaps (i.e. shinyness) and advanced particles. 1.2 would be the era of the new economy structure, etc. I'm loath to assign eras strictly to version numbers but I think it just works out that way some of the time. Major version numbers (i.e. 0.x, 1.x, 2.x) do signal huge changes in the world.

Societally, I think we are somewhere around the Bronze Age. Technologically, we are about late-1960s/early-1970s.

Era.

The pre 1.0 era, the post 1.4 era, etc etc.

My Bible would be not worth the paper when compared to the great book of Dwellnor (Praise be to dwell).

So theres little point as I do not wish to anger Dwellnor (Praise be to dwell), and come off as a "false god".
