To me, SL is a creative 3D world, where I can build kewl "thingies". If people want to pay me for these kewl "thingies" so that they can have "thingies" too, and I can cover my costs to LL in the process, then so much the better.

You can't point to SL and say, "It is this", or "It is that", anymore than you can point to the internet and say "It is this" or "It is that". SL is a medium. It can be used for free expression, socialization, buisness, recreation, education, information, or whatever else you can think of. Or any combination of all of the above. It just is. Any attempt to claim that SL is one thing or another is self delusion, at this point. What it is to you, or me, or anyone else, however, is up for discussion. |

To me its a creative 3d environment - I don't, however, expect others 'players' to feel the same way. Its everyone's world...like RL. By the way, RL is also a creative environment for me. I make money in it - welll because I have to.

To me, Second Life is all that and a bag of chips. It might as well be some spiritual retreat for me to get hypercathartic, now that I think about it. On the rainbow, we have yellow and orange. But we can have a blend between those two. And other colors, whee! Not to mention all the fancy fadershadering. And oh, don't forget shiny. If you wanna make a buck here, try your hand at it -- it's expanding. You wanna get creative for non-profit? Sure *stares at certain people*. And hey, you wanna do both, and more, goodie goodie gumdrops. You may do something that reflects your direct line of work IRL (especially if you're a computer programmer, hehehe). You may not.
