Heyo Alexa. Met you in the Welcome Area this morning. :>

Indeed, take what a lot of people say with a grain of salt. The relative anonymous-ness of SL attracts the worst in some people. But you'll get used to it. :)

Until then, Mute is a powerful ally. ;)

Welcome to your Second Life Alexis! As you have seen there are a lot of us "olders". My SL husband and partner Garth Fairlight is 47 and I am older. (He hates it when I say that!) hehe,,,

Wonderful, wonderful SL where you can have friends that are 18 and 70. That is what makes life great. No "Leisure World" here where you live isolated from all the fun.

Welcome to SL!

My god, Alexa - I'm embarrased you got that kind of initial welcome.

IMO, chronological age is irrelevant in SL. As in our first lives, theres at least 1 jerk for every set of 10 good, kind, honest people. The beauty of SL is that you can put jerks on ignore.

Now if only I can figure out how to do that in RL :)

/start shameless plug
Btw, stop by the shelter if you get a chance - we're nice :P
/end shameless plug

Ace - I will hunt you down and kill you - I have my own teeth. Only joking lol.

Alexa

Joking about what, hunting down Ace or your own teeth? :D

48 here and counting (with most of my own teeth)...

Welcome Alexa!

I'm 23 some of my favorite people are older people. I'd rather play with a nice 50 year old than a jackass who's 25. Age matters in SL nada, no such thing as pixel aging so you can be as young or old as you want to be, So just have fun ignore the morons and if that fails buy a gun and I have a nice shooting range I know of. :D Heheh Yeah the Shelter rocks and they only pick on you if you're to young to remember the 70s and then it's just in fun.

Seriously, this guy should not be allowed to do mentor events.

And I'm 53.

Sorry to hear some creep gave you trouble, Alexa. The nerve of him! Sheesh.
Be assurred that SL has plenty of kind, friendly, wonderful people (from all age groups) who will make your experience worthwhile. If anything, age is less important here than real life since friends are cultivated for shared interests and values, not what year you were born. :)

I got the impression that it was not a mentor that actually said this, but someone that was attending a mentor event at the same time Alexa was. :)

PS: Correct me if I'm wrong Alexa!

Welcome Alexa!

I'm 28 and I LOVE the lady with whom I'm neighbors in SL - she's just about to become a grandmother :)

I love the fact that SL attracts all ages. The more older/mature residents we have, I think, the more I like it.

Sorry about the jerk - young whippersnapper ;-) Chances are he'll be gone long before you've started to build your SL empire.

How did she like the Punany ?? Did you introduce her to Lolita yet ?? :D

Are you sure that Lolita wasn't his mother? Perhaps that was his way of "showing her around".

According to a seriously unscientific poll taken right here in the forums this week, roughly 57% of SLers are 32 or older.

/120/91/29247/1.html

Of course that could actually mean that older players are more likely to respond to a forum poll about age than younger players who don't really care much about it. :)

You are quite right Pendari. He was not only juvenile and irritating, he was very abusive. I would have reported him but didn't know how lol.

Thank you to everyone for your words of support.

Not really anything new to say Alexa, as others have said it much more eloquently.

Welcome to SL!! The only time you are to old is when they are throwing the dirt on your coffin :p

Sorry you had to meet a jerk your first day here, but now that you have gotten that under your belt you can begin to meet the truly wonderful folks here.

BTW I turned 45 last week.. so add me to the list of "oldsters" heh

Age is a number, the roulette wheel of life has me today at 45, other days at 85 and still others to be determined.

Big hugs

Caly

hi Alexa!

Welcome to SL. I'm 43, and I know people who are older then me playing. Most likely you will find a crowd of older adults to hang with, but that's just normal.

If you would like to check out an adult group, I invite you to come on out to the Slate SIM. The Slate Community is made up primarily of people over 35. We didn't plan it that way, that's just how it worked out.

Also, I would be happy to help you along in SL in whatever manner I can. I'm a builder at heart, and a texture maker currently :) If you would like to learn how to build, contact me and we'll get you started. If you would like to be a part of a group, come on over to Slate.

You aren't too old, it's the other way around, some of these kids are too young :)

IM me in-world and I'll be happy to get your started.

Thanks!

Many thanks again to all of you. You have made me feel so welcome, the idiot is a distant memory. Bob, I would love to come and visit your sim. It sounds great.
