What was the first thing you wanted to do when you were a newb, but couldn't?

I wanted to swim in the water, not sink in it. :o

Took me a while to be taught that I could do some funky sitting and flying combo to appear to be swimming. Still would love to find an animation that would let me do it better though! :D

I wanted to build a huge spaceship that would fly. But, was thwarted by the number of prims that could be linked, and the restrictions on how far apart they could be from each other.

Well the first day I started I was so bad at building things and figueing out what this game was all about. About 2 weeks later I purchased 7,000 sq.m. of land and built a paintball park named Brass Eagle Paintball and hosted events every sunday called Blue v Red. Meany of you may remember that. Then after another 2 weeks of that I planned to get 25 some sims and build a large scale paintball park with like 40 fields hosted by other players.

What do you expect... It didnt work, the reasion is because I ran out of money and couldent afford it. Now I purchased another 7,000 sq.m. and I'm a DJ for utopia radio and a public relations officer for (TSP) The Second Page :-)

I wanted to build an airport. :D

Edit: Oh wait, the only *couldn't* about that is the fact that I couldn't make it to scale -- mile-long runways and endless mazes of terminals. Still can't. :-(

I wanted to have a wildlife rescue house. Then I found out how many prims I could have on 512m and how many prims go into the creation of just one animal.

I'm almost there now though, I have a lot of rescued wildlife on Furu. :)

I remember after my fist week of exploring I wanted to build a home. Never saw anyone at the welcome area so didnt know about the L4L program hehehe a friend from TSO gave me 512sqm on a beach...... I wassooo happy, got the prefab wright house and very first thing I ran into problems!!! For some unknown reason the 512m was broke down into 16m plots... had no clue as to how to join it till another friend from TSO (Cathy Curie) showed me :)
Tada!!!!!! started assembling the house..... ran outa prims was disappointed. Spent a couple days all gloomy then was talking to Baccara one day about land and Madison Gardner was there and had ummmm 2048m in Jenner she sold me!!!! Best purchase I ever made in SL :)

Built my home, and kept an eye on the prims left and gor nervouse when they got under 100 hehehe Sooooo, started buying more land in Jenner. Went a bit nuts prolly since now I own about 30000sqm in Jenner but VERY happy :)

Well you *can*. It's just that you'd have to buy several private sims to do it.

When I started, one of the first things I saw was a flying spaceship thing. In retrospect, it was just a mashed-together collection of badly-textured cubes, but I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I tried to build flying things but couldn't -- vehicle physics didn't exist yet, scripters guarded their flight scripts closely, and I didn't know how to script yet.

I wanted to have a nice house with a basment where I could build stuff to sell, and then make the roof a store. Unfortunately, 117 prims and 512m of land doesn't give you a heck of a lot to work with in that reguard.

Pendari,

<<Still would love to find an animation that would let me do it better though! >>

I should have something. IM me inworld, and either I will give you a copy, or, if that doesn't work, give you the name of the maker. It's a pair of sunglasses that gives you a swimming animation. It's fun. :)

I wanted to buy land, build a house and a car, have a disco underneath it, run a mall, live on the ocean, build a log cabin on a mountain in the snow and rent it out to honeymooners, make and sell houses, furniture and clothing, help other people discover this wonderful world, and make lots of friends!

I managed all of these except the disco and the car. I made a small disco, but never ran any events in it - and my Nissan Sentra exploded when I turned physics on...

LOL... Lisse, do you still have the virtual wreckage around? I'd like to see that. You should rez your disco somewhere for kicks. :)

Lol, you probaly wouldn't want me at that disco... I would wear my REAL owl AV and dance around, just like I do at every party i'm at! :D

In fact, that owl AV (which looks VERY good, won 800L at an event once) was one of my newb creations that a friend helped me out with. She doesn't log on anymore :( , but she did help me, even when I wore a lamp on my head... I had to be one of the worst newbies... I didn't understand anything, and thought EVERYTHING was a good build, and had a lot of talent to it . I didn't understand how the hell to IM someone not on my calling card list...

I remember thinking everyone was completely stupid for simply not paying a tier, and building in the airspace, until I realized nothing more than this really crappy one room beach house (my land was ummm... kinda on the water... I think there was a 512 blocking my way to the water...) that I built and then sold in that unknown mall (GOD i'm sorry those two people bought from me... I feel bad for them...) would it on the land with only 117 prims.

That's when I decided it was a good idea to build a nightclub on my property! That didn't work out. I remember becoming very desperate for someone to buy my land, and finally selling it to someone for 1/2 an L a meter... :p

I came across a fully scripted and wonderfully modeled 88-key piano in Aqua. Each key was a separate prim and played a separate note when you clicked it. It was made by Cubey Terra and (i believe) Same Song.

It was for sale for L$1000. I couldn't afford it, so I figured I'd wait and save up a reserve of cash before making such big purchases.

Later on when I had saved up enough cash that I could buy it without going broke, I went searching the world for it, only to find that it was *gone*. :(

Wow, Kex Godel! You know, I think a lot of people said you helped them out, right? My helper person thing was Tonya Buttercup, but sadly, I never see here anymore :( .

PS: Why don't I ever meet SL famous people?
