Just a quick survey. Curious as to what people are experiencing.

I don't think I've ever crashed out of SL... but on several occasions I've felt compelled to relog. Generally when I'm in a high-traffic area and/or if I've tried to use "Talk With..."
But, what's the intent of the poll? I sense an ulterior motive ![]() |

You should have asked about lock-ups or freezes too. That's the reason many people are forced to relog. I know I do. If I ever try to terraform in a certain way, I can freeze or crash. And if I minimize the page and look in another window, I can freeze and lag. I have the ATI card supposedly working with the game.
I know many, many people experience crashes and lock-ups because I see them relogging all night long, over and over again, every 30 minutes. In fact, to give someone your calling card is merely to give them a constant in-your-face visible reminder of their constant crashes and reloggings. _____________________

I get the occasional crash to desktop. Far more common is to simply lose connection with the current sim and need to re-log -- I get one or two of those an hour.

I rarely crash, and if I do it's usually due to the simulator I am in going down, or so says the error message.
I do relog maybe once or twice a week because of TP blockage, although I have had considerably less of that lately. |

If you never crash, maybe you could post your video card / motherboard / CPU ![]() Nothing fancy here. AMD Athalon XP+ 2500, on an Asus A7N8X2 Rev 2 with a Asus NVidia FX5950-Ultra. Works great for me. Mind you, the only crashes I do get are from a sim going boom (heh, Spittoonie loves doing that with me )_____________________

I answered never because the main client has only crashed when I've been messing about with the debug menu which is fair enough I think - that's why it's hidden by default. Of course I've had situations when I've had to re-log, but that's not what I'd regard as a crash.
On the whole SL is a helluva lot more reliable on my machine than any other PC game I've installed (most have not only crashed but have locked up the machine requiring a hard reset). |

While I do have problems with the program's performance, it almost never crashes the computer, forcing a restart of the machine. Second Life itself does crash from time to time, but nowhere near every 4 hours, which is the next closest choice to never you have in your poll. Hence I chose never.
I have a Compaq Presario S4500NX with 512 MB. My video card in an eVGA FX 5700 LE . The motherboard is a slighty crippled by Compaq Asus A7N8X-LA. In the course of answering this question I found a system specs program called Everest availbable at www.lavalys.com which seemed to be very thorough and perhaps better than the Belarc Advisor. My CPU is an AMD Athlon XP-A 2166 MHz, (3000+). I am sure glad I answered this question, this Everest system spec program appears to rock. _____________________

Asus P4S533 , P4 2.66 overclocked to 3.0 Ghz ,
Asus 6800/GT chip - overclocked to 410/820Mhz , Running latest OEM Nvidia drivers. 1 Gig Ram Regular /weekly driver and system maintence, Clean up all old files, delete SL cache , defrag on regular basis. Not sure if this helps. System very stable now I actually put video card actually into slot. Can run SL for long periods 6+ hours with no crashes. I do have some performance / lag issues with SL but thats another thread. _____________________

I rarely if ever crash. If I do crash, it's usually on starting up SL anyway which means it's Winblows' fault.
The comp I run SL on is as follows: A7X Mobo AMD Athlon 2600 Barton 512MB RAM (generic) GeForce4 MX440 Audigy 2 ZS on a 5Mps connection with 800k up. Pretty high-quality line and little traffic on it. _____________________

I crash if I fly/move anywhere.
If I stay in one sim I can stay online for hours. LF _____________________

I never crash, but I did not count the reboots needed because of failed tps, losing attachments, falling thru world, etc..etc..as those are server side..but lock up and have to reboot, or crash to desktops, never..

I picked "never crash", but that's not entirely acurate. It happens, but not often enough to be a problem, maybe once every few weeks or so. A year ago, I used to crash once or twice daily, but now almost never. SL's stability has improved a hundred fold in that time period.
Here are my system specs: 2.54 GHz HT Pentium 4 768 MB RD RAM (RD is equivilent to DDR2 as far as I know. I think they just changed the name.) 256 MB Nvidia Quadro FX 3000 graphics card _____________________

Just a lowly Athlon XP 2700+ (Thoroughbred) on an MSI K7N2 Delta-L with 768MB of RAM and a FX5200 gfx card. I really don't crash except for perhaps once a month or so. I have no problems staying on for hours at a time or flying around.

Ditto on Chosen's post. I do crash but the jump from "every 4 hours" to "never" was a bit large. I crash maybe once a week, though normally that happens when I am running alot of other applications along side SL, such as iTunes, Photoshop, Word, Skype, etc.

I pretty much never crash either and I have a supposedly non-working ATI card so go figure!
Intel P4 2.4Ghz 768 RAM (DDR SDRAM) 256Mb Hercules 3D Prophet 9600 (ATI Radeon 9600) I do ghost from time to time though when crossing sim borders, can't wait for 1.6 to see an improvement in that. _____________________

comes and goes for me like i have days and days that are fine then a few crashes in one day. probably equals out to about 1 crash per day or maybe a lil bit less. guessing at the math now but maybe once every 12 hours of playing. another guess but i'd say most of my crashes are caused by other things i'm running cause i always have tons of programs going with SL and just tell it to deal with it.

Well, 63% seems a bit poor for never crashing, SL should be able to do better.
But it's still better than I thought it would be. It encouraged me to try to fix my computer as it's more likely that it's my problem and not SLs. I have upgraded the driver and the service pack to 2. The latter seemed to do the trick. I suggest if you're in the the 40% category above that you consider trying the same. _____________________

I have an ATI Radeon 9250, and it works just dandy now that I have upgraded.
I think it was the service pack 2, because everything was crashing all the time even after I upgraded the ATI driver.. _____________________
