Tartarus: A public proposal to Linden Lab

3. Because you have been so vocal - check the archives or your post count - your travails with LL have been well documented by yourself. I am nearly 99% sure that there was a cry, back in mid-summer, about funding Tarturus - you trying to do a private sim thing, then the funding falling trhough, then.. then.. then... The details, like most soap operas, were unimportant to me.... The drahma fed on itself and was what stands out in my memory. In particular, I remember something like two successive threads where you were screaming about leaving SL and f** them and no support.. and.. and.. and. Then again, I am getting old and crothcety... but the archives would prove that my memory is accurate or not... It's just not worth my time to do so for you.

3.Actually, that was on a completely different subject. We lost our funding from a previous source, not Linden Lab. If the....the.....the details are unimportant to you, then why do you -attempt- to bring them up when it is obvious, even from your own words, you have no idea what your talking about. Sadly, it was only a single thread, the other thread was an apology 2 months later for my actions. Oh, and if its not worth your time to look up details, then stop acting like you know them.

Oh, and korg, good job on turning a completely innocent thread into dramafest 2004!

As an added note, it seems that korg turned this into a dramafest as a "cry for attention"

3. Actually, you picked up the reference.. and I could care less about the details - as I said. It is a reference to the drahma you made and posted about during the summer... by definiton, histrionics. The details of the posts you made are unimportant to me, the image I was left with is what I referred to.

As for turning your thread into a drahma one - you did it with your post. The entire essence of it is "look at me" - attention-seeking is drahma. I merely pointed out what was happening.

Korg, you are entitled to think whatever you want.. but i would like to impress upon you to go ahead and read the archives. (post counts don't matter so much on this one.. i'm down almost to a third of what my post count was as of a few months ago. deletions and such...)

the original problem was that Tartarus had problems with transfer of ownership and then secondly with funding. the word was given that ownership couldn't be transferred.. then within a month's time that ability was instated; thereby, in effect, the original Tartarus sim was needlessly lost.
then funding was looking good for a new private sim and Tartarus was going to get back on track. but, once more, outside sources, which had looked promising, fell through.

you see.. this is only the two major problems.. imagine the frustration of trying to mastermind this whole project for months and getting a good deal into then being knocked to square one.. again and again. i, personally, am impressed with how well Ryen has held up.

...also, this proposal, as i see it, is not just an outcry trying to drum up interest and support. it's a proposal that's being implemented in a creative and effective way.. not to mention efficient.
a company that weighs the pros and cons of whether to (help) fund a project or not also has to consider what benefits they would get out of the deal. by posting the proposal in the SL forums, LL can gauge public reaction to such an idea and whether it would be advantageous to them to consider it or not.
as a side effect, Tartarus is continuing it's tradition of keeping the public informed about what's going on. while you may not like the idea of Tartarus, there are many who do like the idea.

Ryen, this is an excellent idea. i know there has been talk of Linden funding in the past, but i'm glad to see a proposal being offered for consideration. i understand it's not a direction you wished to take, but at this point it's become a valid idea to propose.

My opinion of the original post in this thread is the same as it was when I first read it.
Your mileage may vary... but the drahma remains the same whenever this project is mentioned...or another one.

I feel I was merely making an observation and asking a question based on past experience. OTOH, the response was defensive.... sucks to be defensive sometimes when one is not being attacked... or so I hear.

I think it is a fantastic idea and I see nothing wrong with posting it. If you want to drum up interest in your project, then why not publicize it a little? Isn't the whole point of the Tartarus project -- aside from exercising creativity -- meant to interest people?

I for one look forward to exploring your cyberpunk city (It doesn't help that I'm a hopeless SciFi fanatic)

Because, as we all know, everyone needs a little mecha sweet lovin' once on awhile; how much moreso in a scifi setting?

Mecha? If you mean giant fighting robots (which im guessing) no, but there will be player armor which will include weapons built into the armor (think a planetside max). But these will limit the players movement and will be extemely expensive.
