Do you believe in UFO's and Ghosts?

Just wondering how people feel about this subject. It has been a subject of debate for Centurys.

I believe that both exsist, though I find most recorded sightings highly suspect. Of course a UFO is, be definition, any unidentified flying object, not just alien space crafts.

Personally, I'm hoping a highly advanced alien race lands soon and spanks us and makes us behave.

I believe in ghosts. Not in the sense of a dead person soul roaming the earth but a residual energy left at a time or place that can be felt and sensed.

Aliens are definetly real they are just to far away to communicate with, I imagine they think the same things as we do though, and either don't have the technology yet to cross vast distance of space or don't feel the need to yet.

Unfortunately, the high signal-to-noise ratio of supernatural and paranormal phenomena which has been spread throughout planet Earth carelessly by those trying to make a quick buck or attention hounds or sorts of people like that -- that really confuzzles things and makes it hard to filter out if there are, in fact, any actual cases that can be solidly weighed. It's like spam on the Internet.

It wouldn't surprise me if other life existed somewhere in the universe, but I have trouble picturing them zipping over to earth in flying saucers.

As for ghosts and afterlife, I'd like to think the show wasn't over when I died, but I'm not counting on it.

Well, I'm not quite sure how to vote on this one.

I mean, for one, I'm absolutely certain that there's life elsewhere in the Universe. Probably even intelligent life, or what we would call it. Have they visited Earth? Not too likely, I don't think, considering the vast distances of space and time that would separate us.

Ghosts? I find that idea to be more along the lines of wishful thinking, really... I won't say they can't exist, but I doubt that they're spirits of the deceased. I like Wil McCarthy's idea of ghosts, being quantum-mechanical recordings in the surrounding materials of a strongly emotional event occurring there.

Psychic abilities? Well... the lack of empirical evidence gets my scientific side all doubtful, but then people will come along and do weird remote-influence experiments on random number generators, with tantalizing results. Then there was the time my ex cured a headache I had, in 30 seconds, by laying her hands on my head. Woo, Reiki.

I'm more concerned if they beleave in US or not......... If not, *squish*, crushed like grape...... Hehehe

UFO's: sure. and I wouldn't be surprised if they've already been here. Ten thousand years ago, a trip around the world would take you years, if you could do it at all. Another civilization that is 10,000 years ahead of us, likely would have a means to travel extreme distances in very small amounts of time. Whether we have been a destination spot is anyone's guess.

Ghosts: I'm not fully sold on this. I personally think things that are attributed to ghosts are not ghosts, but something we've yet to come up with the means to explain - or understand. Years ago, unexplained events were attributed to all sorts of things, including ghosts.

Why do I think that Blake is going to cross-reference the results of this poll and those of his god thread, and post something pithy about certain people believing in one highly unlikely thing yet disbelieving another. Why else with the public polling?

I voted no, if only because "UFO's" is grammatically incorrect. Is that evil of me? Or, am I being asked if I believe in aliens that don't know how to spell.

Why UFOs and ghosts? Why the two together? Can't we vote for just one or the other?

For that matter, all UFO means is "Unidentified Flying Object" - technically anything that you don't know what it is, that happens to be flying, is a UFO. But Unidentified, officially, like in the "US Air Force can't identify something as natural or man-made?"

Well, personally the jury's still out on that one. It's far more likely that reports are hoaxes, explainable, or secret government aircraft; after all, the US government (and rightly so) has kept many air force projects secret. So what? Heheh...

I think it's highly likely that there are intelligent life forces elsewhere in the universe, even in our galaxy - the problem is how difficult it would be to find our Solar System. Still, there's nothing scientific that disproves it.

UFO's are possible though extremely unlikely. It wouldn't require magic for an advanced alien race to use science to facilitate long distance space travel.

Ghosts would be a big no. Could there be phenomenon that we don't understand that we might primitively call a "ghost?" Sure. Would it actually have anything to do with the wandering soul of a deceased person? Not a chance

When you say 'elsewhere', that would imply that it can be found here also? I suppose there might just be intelligent life on earth. As you say, nothing scientific actually disproves it.

There isn't an issue about UFOs. There are UFOs, and they are seen every day. A UFO is an Unidentified Flying Object.

The question comes when people claim that a particular UFO is a craft piloted by extra-terrestrial beings.
