I've had two occasions with beggers.

The first: A girl popped out of no-where and said that I promised her a dance machine for free. Now, I did actually promise afew people at the time so I figured that I probebly did not remember her case, so I trew a Home CrystalDance in her direction. Then she asked another dance machine. ... I said, if I promised anything, it was probebly just one, not two. Then she said "ok then just a couple's dance bracelet". I told her its cool that she wants one, since its only 200L$. At that point she teleported off.

Afew weeks later I see her in Cordova. She recognises me and starts begging again, started talking about how "I though we were friends" (I have never seen her in my life before the shop incident. Neither rated, or exchanged callcards), and started bitching when she saw i'm not folding. After I left, I received an IM notifying me that she is running around Cordova and telling stories about me. Thankfully, thats where it ended. I think the girl needs to take her meds.

The second occasion was more minor: A guy shows up and inspects the CrystalDance (why do they always want the dance machine? I do other stuff darnit ). Then he IMs me "come here" and sends a TP. I ignore his IM and refuse. He TPs again. And again. And again. Fifth time he IMs me: "why you not come".

After inquiry for his state of sanity I figured its a customer so i'll better let it slide and see what he wants. There I go and he says "This dance machine is cool I want it". I pointed at the vendor. "Its 400 I only have 350". ".. then make 50L$ or borrow and come back".

And then came the line that made me roll all over the floor:

"I cant I own a club I need a dance machine".

o.o

He owns a club, and cant get 50L$.

After 10 more minutes of explanations from my side ("you're an idiot" and retaliates from his side ("please?!!!11" I ended up leaving. That was the end of it.

Fortunatly, no one asked me for money in SL yet, but like Oz i'm abit of a hermit when it comes to interacting with the general population (except for when i'm reaaally bored) so I wouldnt really know.

Here's an idea: next time they beg, try asking them from which game they came from. It would be intresting to gather some Begger Statistics.

them: "can I have some money?'

me: "can you do anything?

them: "no."

me: "no."

After that, they usually ask for guns, and I send them to Francis Chung. (sorry Francis)

Seriously, if people need spending money, and you know your ass from a hole in the ground (in the relevantly-skilled sense), I can put you to work! But I ain't no charitable organization either.

I gotta say though, if someone puts all that effort into making a convincing beggar (that is, they look like a beggar, have a sign, made some stuff to make it work), then you should toss em a couple bucks. Believe it or not, this is how I met my wife (I was a beggar somewhere else). Cuz she thought it was clever
