wow that's a lot of hippos! Hey, I'm about to get third place in most posts on this thread!

I must wholeheartedly protest the use of "cloned" hippos in this thread.

Hippos are meant to roam free, not to be hatched in a buffer like so many keystrokes...

If you must farm them, at least provide them a substantial campus on which to range.

Doesn't it suck how the 1st Life Picture Thread got a little less than half as many posts as the hippo thread in 10 days? THis thread is older than most residents! (Not me! Woo! )

Hippo started in April 2003 (during a war) has 5812 views and 561 posts to
3 Word started in August 2003 (remember the black-out) and it has 759 posts and 6997 views.

Poor hippo thread. Here's a sympathy post.

The 3 word thread also has *shock* 3 words per post, while few hippo thread posts have that less than 5.

Aww don't get upset. It's because the 3 word thread is organic, spans time, is an endless story, and isn't limited to 1 topic (hippos).
I'm sure this thread will always live in your heart and that should be good enough
Besides, we got a mascot and it's arch enemy (gnomes) out of this.

It's just not a fair fight. The three-word thread can only spout back three words at a time. Sometimes even well-chosen words (ahem).

We should so a sentence game where we start a story about a hippo and add a sentence. I'll start.

There once was a hippo

who died. The end.

But his progeny picked up where he left off and these hippolets carry on their dad's traditional fight.

And soon these hippolets grew into powerful war hippos to take up arms and avenge their father, who was killed off by some freak of nature named Christopher.

(BTW, if this were a three word thread, it would be about 100,000 posts long )

The hippolets searched far and wide for the man known as Christopher Omega to avenge Father Hippo.

Three was the number of the hippolets, and the number of the hippolets was three; three hippolets who should have been innocent, but whose lives and focus turned slowly, inexorably toward their unquenched revenge.

The number of the hippolets was not four, nor was the number two, accepting that the number of hippolets was three; five is right out.
