Is it griefing or is it just for fun?

I rarely grief anyone unless there is just cause.

there isn't a just cause for griefing. that's why it's called "griefing" instead of "totally righteous and justified justice that is totally just". also does this mean you sometimes grief people without just cause?

Well, I shot this person becaus she neg rated a very good freind of mine and when I saw her i couldn't help but shoot her and her friends standing nearby.

aww poor griefer. so you weren't even the injured party? nice. and unlike the poll question it sounds like you shot more than one person.

thing is when someone shoots you there's a record of it in your PVP abuse list. that kinda seems to mean it's griefing. :D i hope you didn't really think people were going to flock to your defense. that would be dumb if you did.

According to the lessons of certain sage veterans of SL, today's GREEFER KIN <-- who have such a name for a reason -- are but pale imitations and infini-Xeroxed copies of the original creative minds who strove not to annoy and offend, but amuse with whimsical creations.

I find it bothersome that it is a precarious situation to set up a fireworks show somewhere without the risk of being Abuse Reported, or even a building of a different color (understandable lag and particle spews notwithstanding, as in the case of clubel ;) ).

Aaron, sounds to me like you should get in touch with Deevyde. Why? Well, the mad Braniac is planning a gridwide game where you can hunt down people belonging to one of several teams with attachments that "activate" them for combat, so you know who's "in the game" and willing to play.

My GREEFER KIN encounters have thankfully been few and far in between, but I already note a correlation -- not only from my experiences but those of others -- that those pounding off push guns also have communication impedements, perhaps of their own self-imposed design. I say "Hi, could you please shooting?" and invariably, more shooting or even a brusque insult is doled out to me. Shortly afterwards, if this behavior is repeated after my gracious pleading that I am in the process of enjoying Second Life and trying to sit by a campfire or build or even dance in circles, I file an Abuse Report.

I only shoot people who are "in on it". Otherwise, I ask. :-)

Well, I shot this person becaus she neg rated a very good freind of mine and when I saw her i couldn't help but shoot her and her friends standing nearby. I am over it now and feel much better. Chances are the Lindens will ban me for about 14 days very soon. But if they do i will just quit.

Yes, I understand. You are clearly should not be held responsible for your actions, after all you couldn't help but shoot her. And her friends standing nearby. Fortunately, these uncontrollable urges will fade away after you turn 18. Or start taking your meds. If not, you'll get kicked out from the game, and the effect on the community will be much the same as if you'd simply stopped shooting people.

ok, you shot some people who didn't want to be shot, but it's not something you plan on doing in future. And you might get a temporary ban for it.

so....

You got it out of your system, you feel better... so take your medicine (i.e. your punishment) and move on.

Just don't make a habit of it. It's not surprising why people who are disconnected with this event are reacting badly -- if everyone did what you did, SL would become a pretty awful place.

Shooting guns in SL is fun... as long as everybody involved WANTS to be involved.
