There would be such an enormous outcry if there was no more "Find People" function in SL, that the Lindens HAVE to realize it would make the most sense to just leave it there.

I agree that it is not going anywhere, just when you first go to it, it does not do a default search, it does nothing till you put in a search..that is how I read it..

Just to clarify, the "Find People" search is still there, but the default setting which automatically returned Resident names has been removed to improve server performance. Fear not, you will still be able to search out your fellow Residents.

but would it not have made sense to do the same thing with "Find Places" too? That still pulls up an apparently random cluster of places... I'm sure it is no less straining on the search server than pulling up the top 100 names of the alphabetical order list...
