Why remove find ---> people from the find menu?

If you get hit by a griever you can no longer find details on em because they usually hit fast and vanish. Use to after a griever attack, I could look up their details by going Find --> People and then I could find out how old they are etc. Now unless you have their card, you will not be able to find out even the correct spelling of their name

One wonders what the Star Chamber had in mind when requesting this bizzare change???

I think this just refers to the default entries that are shown when you first open the People find screen, but I could be wrong.

I was concerned about that, too... I'd like to know more details, like whether there'll be some other method of finding out information about someone. I hope so-- there have been many times when I've been curious to know more about someone whose card I don't have. It'd be a pain if 'find people' was removed and there was no other option available.

Well, I haven't seen what the change actually means, but from what I read, I think you're barking up the wrong tree.

Also, who IS this imagined Star Chamber of yours? I mean, really, where ARE all these calls for the people search to be moved? I don't think I've ever seen it mentioned, ventured or requested. Ever. By anyone. Even in that crappy voting thing where all the little self serving wants go.

So who are this Star Chamber who are requesting and getting feature suggestions via the power of thought alone?

This is talking about the find menu. People was between events and groups now it will be just Something like places, events, groups with no people slot

No, People will still be there which is what I was saying, it's just that when you first open the screen in a login session no call will be made to the server to retrieve the "default" results - so results will be empty until you search for a person.

That's my understanding of it.

That was my reading also. Querying the database every time someone opens the search tab is a waste of resources, so I'm glad that they made the change. Those of you who would like to think the worse need to refrain from complaining until after the update. Getting started early is ridiculous.

No it is good to bring up concerns. especially one that will help the grievers.

This is also my take on it. Or at least the early morning/late night translation into jibberish of it.

Not when that concern is based upon a misinterpretation of a release note and has no basis in reality.

Magnum. The FIND people will still be there.

Here is an example of what is being changed:

- Right now when you click on the FIND People button, a huge list of people's names comes up right away. Before you have typed anything in. This puts a big strain on the server when tons of people are using the FIND option.

- After the update, what will happen is when you click on the FIND People button, that long list of names will no longer be there. But you will still be able to type in a name and search for a person.

So no worries! No way in the world they would completely get rid of FIND People. :)

It is good to bring up concerns, and it is good to set 'em straight if it is a misinterpretation. Specially, early of a morning. *offers Ardith a cup of coffee*

Correct. If you don't believe that, log into Preview and see for yourself. It's exactly as Pendari says.

So who are this Star Chamber who are requesting and getting feature suggestions via the power of thought alone?

C'mon Kris didn't you get the memo ? The Star Chamber is of course the upper echelon of FIC INC. Shadow didn't you forward this to Kris ?? I remember us talking of it to make sure she was in the loop gah!

The FIC at the very least had some ring of possibility about it. This Star Chamber, which so far only Mag has ever mentioned, seem to be responsible for all sorts of misdeeds which have gone completely under the radar. They really must be a shadowy bunch. And what is their agenda? Apart from to piss off Magnum? I mean really, why do they want the People Find tab removing so bad? How have they managed to exert enough of their influence and pressure to ensure the Lindens put that ahead of other much more popular suggestions that actually make some sense without ever having it so much as mentioned to or by anyone ever?

Spooky.

Arrrrrrrg.

Grieve. Verb. To feel grief.

The world is griefer, not griever. A griever would be one who has experienced grief, not one who makes other feel grief.

This is probably the single most annoying mistake on the forums...

Seems logical. I always thought the Abbatoir family had a really unfair advantage to get posrates and get chance TPs to their businesses by being first in the telephone book ROFL.

Something more FIC'ed than the FIC?

I guess I missed the memo on this too.

It would be rather crazy if they did that. It would be impossible to contact anyone whose card you didn't have.

They are not deleteing find. They are simply changing it to display AV KEYS only.
