Rose,
Have I told you lately that I love you?

From: Chip Midnight 1. Afghanistan held successful elections recently (so much for being controlled by warlords)
Yeah, if you live in Kabul life is better. If you live anywhere else in the country it's exactly like it was before. The elections were meaningless to 90% of the population
2. Terrorists do not "control" any part of Iraq. They do, however, cause a great deal of havoc and grief in 3 provinces. That would be 3 out of 18 provinces. (so much for 90%)
I didn't say terrorists. I said insurgents. Iraq will now most likely be ruled by an Islamic theocracy.
3. No major attacks on American soil/citizens outside a warzone since 9/11.
100 foot tall elephants haven't stampeded either. I guess Bush should get credit for that as well. In the history of this country there have been very few terrorist attacks on our soil. Saying that the lack of attacks proves something is a specious argument.
4. In case you didn't notice-we're at war. Moreover that surplus was the result of the highest taxes in history and the stripmining of the US military and US intelligence.
We're not at war. No one attacked us except a small criminal organization, which we used as an excuse to invade two countries. The "war on Terrorism" is an excuse for imperialst expansion. JeBudAllIshna, Thank you Chip. We are not at war...we were attacked 3 years ago by a known aggressor. We did not find him or his commrades. We continue to launch strikes along the pipeline.

I'm tired of beating chests, lies, theives, killers. The United States has become a Tyrant on its own. Plain and simple. This isn't about terrorism anymore, we all know that. Its about money and oil. The roots of evil.
As once said before.. Welcome to 1984 folks.

From: Kiamat Dusk And here I thought I was going to bed *early* tonight! NNngggghhh!!!! I'm going to be up all night running this stuff down! Why don't you think of someone besides yourSELF sometime, huh? However, lemme launch an initial strike and remind everyone that Clinton was also responsible for the highest taxes in US history, allowed classified missile technology to be sold to the Chinese who now have nukes that can reach the West Coast, and that many of his economic miracles were the result of his Republican congress which the voters handed him after the midterm elections. So *there*! -Kiamat Dusk Sowrry Kiamat. Clinton made his share of consessions and mistakes - they are all politicians after all. However, I think he was a much better fiscal manager and foreign statesman than our current president. While Bush cuts taxes, he also pushes many branches of government into offseting their underfunding by charging fees for services that were once inexpensive or free. For example, ordering documents under the freedom of information act is now so costly it is almost prohibitive for anyone but a large legal firm. Local goverments are desperate and have raised things like property taxes to record levels in order to fund programs that are federally underfunded like No Child Left Behind. I only wanted to note some examples of the positive things that the former president left behind which may have been overlooked in the face of the countries focus and obsession on how the man choose to prep his cigar.

From: Kiamat Dusk You should be. It's people like me that keep people like you safe enough to hate people like me.

Oh lessee about the time I crossed the border on March 19, 2003 and saw the jubilation with my own eyes as well as the starvation and poverty.

Sure I've heard it but you can't fall into the red and blue stereotyping trap. Regardless of what your media is feeding you our parties are complex and varied within theirselves and cannot be contained in a stereotype. Incidentally, all military folks are not republican in case you were interested, but most of them voted that way because the alternatives were extremely weak.

Ok, perhaps my statement was stereotypical. You stipulate to my point that too many people are educated by news directors and not professors and scholars.

We need to stand behind our troops while they're fighting for us abroad, and when they return. Nonetheless, that support does not (and should not) extend to the man who is endangering their lives in his futile crusade.
That's why I want this magnet for my car.

From: Kiamat Dusk Hey, great! And while we're at it, why don't we disband the military and all law enforcement agencies! The fact is, despite Bush's poor choice of words, the country *is* safer, but that safety is due to factors like the Patriot Act, the Department of Homeland Security, and the military.
-Kiamat Dusk Stripping the SLefties of their illusion of forum safety Hey, I know, let's make huge, sweeping analogies in an attempt to make the opposition seem ridiculous, only to make OURSELVES into giant asshats!

From: Rose Karuna Yeah - I saw those Birkenstocks in your SL closet You must have missed the crusty, odoriferous, crusty white socks balled up next to them.
