Like i stated earlier they are adding another damaged enabled sim. I see a business oppurtunity and i want to run with it. I have changed my mind. I want to open a business. My business wont even specialize in killing. What is the bfd?

I imagine it has a lot to do with your first couple of posts in this thread where you proclaim yourself to be an assasin for hire specializing in acts of revenge.

There may be a fair percentage of SL citizens who take a dim view of that. Some perhaps automatically translate that to "griefer for hire".

Also, I doubt there are many who like the part about intel gathering either. Sounds like spying and snooping to me. Which is just more griefing.

Face it, not too many people like spies, snoops and assasins. Mostly because, IMHO, the majority of SL citizens not only look down on this sort of thing, but also try to get along -without- griefing, spying and snooping.

And I know you sort of did an about face a few posts up, but it's hard to get around how this thread started.

Also, I don't think Nexus neccessarily threatened you, rather reacted in a protective manner to your threats. And yes, I believe posting that you are an assasin for hire technically threatens the entire population with possible hired violence.

well, it does bring a finer point to the Law. Should I assume that - since you are now a professional dick - that anytime I see you near my property that you are either spying or about to shoot me? If that is a reasonable assumption, do I have the right to defend my privacy and dignity by shooting you on sight?

I'm suprised this has turned so hostile! As someone who lives in Jessie and so occassionally has to hire people to shoot other people for me, so that I can work uninterupted, I don't think the offer is inappropriate at all. Heck, I will no doubt some day have use for Bam's services! Admittedly, outside of Jessie, this doesn't make a lot of sense. But to those of us who live in the war-zones of SL - either by choice, or because there was no other place for us to settle - sometimes a person who knows their way around munitions and isn't afraid to use them is exactly what you need!

And, yes, I've heard a repeated rumour that there will be a battle sand-box.

Just so y'all know (and becasue I can't get in-world and am VERY bored) let me make something clear. I have no problem with Bam playing as a mercenary, assassin, or detective. But, once he advertised that he is available to wreak revenge for a dollar OUTSIDE Jessie, then I have to think of how I'm going to integrate HIS roleplaying into MY roleplaying. So, unless he tells me otherwise, I must assume he potentially means me harm. So, I will defend myself against the implicit threat in his announcement

Bam, no ill will intended here. I haven't met you that I know but going by your posts I really don't think this is the game for you. Your playstyle doesn't seem to fit with what SL makes available, which is fine. It doesn't make you a bad person but it might make you an unhappy player. There are lots of online games out there designed for exactly the kinds of things you keep saying you want to do. Shop around and see if another game would serve your needs better than SL.

For god sakes. I just want to open a f#@*** security consultation business. What have i done to any of you to deserve this. I have been in world 3 days. Give me a break. I just want to make some money. If what i do is wrong then go criticize Cyanide Leviathan. He is doing the exact same thing except dirtier and without consultations. I dont know what i have done to deserve any of this criticism. I am just trying to build a business and make a living. I guess you guys just have to make a big deal about anything that has to do with Jessie. I am just trying to provide security solutions for businesses and to do private security on the side. Alrighty Bam, here you have it.

Now a security system, in all idealism, it's a pretty swanky idea. You probably get a cool uniform, you get to get that respect and arch-nemesis-ish people, and live a sort of James Bond sort of life. That is, if things worked like I imagine you think it would have worked.

However, the Second Life is designed around providing a safe and grief free experience for all the occupants (I feign to call them players anymore). Unlike the 1st life, not every place is a damage zone, and potentially if a person feels not safe, they can simply avoid the damage zones or just sit down. And if a person is being griefed, they can simply report the abuse to the lindens.

So essentially, your worst competition is the Lindens and the world itself. It's just that there isnt much NEED for a Security Company, though that certainly wont stop you from making it, all the power to you on that. Just dont expect something like that to be a reliable and substantial source of money.

But hey, if you want to do something like that, dont let anyone tell you otherwise, hell Second Life already has a Police Department in Tehama, but you dont see them out there patroling the streets or anything of that like. Build what you want to build and be who you want to be, but just make sure you obey the T.O.S and know that since you dont have any more power than any other person here, that the real security company is the Lindens.
