LOL... that is hilarious. :D

I have two questions though. He is against hunting fox right? How did the fox he just ate come to its timely demise? Perhaps it died of old age right before dinnertime. Or, I suppose it could have just run right up to his doorstep and committed hari-kiri. :p

That's the problem with this type of "art" - It appeals to the cruel base nature in people. Is animal cruelty really something to laugh at? I would suggest to the artist that if the intention is to appeal to hummanitarian inconsistencies, then act like an effing human being.

Hey - at least if he killed it, he ate it. Personally, I'd throw my support to the foxes rather than the humans. The animals are more worthy.

Performance art has a long history and is as diverse in subject matter as any other art form. Of course animal credulity is not to be laughed at but it has absolutely nothing to do with this type of "art" other than a dude ate a fox while using this medium to create in. Please educate yourself about performance art before suggesting something as ridiculous as this kind of art appeals to the cruel base nature in people.

actually --the artist's point was there are much worse problems for the British Government to work on and that imposing laws aganst fox-hunting was ridiculous.

The artist wasn't against fox-hunting --he was against government intrusion in what he saw a non-issue.

So to answer your question --He's not against fox-hunting --he's against the trivial fights over banning fox-hunting.

I was vegan for about 5 years, but unfortunately became incredibly ill for over a year before switching back to being a vegetarian (of which I remain to this day). To maintain health, I discovered that my body could handle vegetarianism but not veganism. I have never preached my views about such a personal decision. Most people don't know about my diet or the reasoning behind it unless they sit down to a meal with me. I have no problem with a carnivorous diet or those who maintain it, as I do believe it is a very personal decision. However, I do find it hard to keep quiet at the whole "LOL.. that is hilarious" crap.

*clap clap clap* I was just about to post something along these lines, now I don't have to. You said it beautifully. :)

Oh, I am sorry, you misunderstand me. I am laughing at the artists hypocrisy, not animal cruelty. I should have made that more clear.

It may boggle the mind, should this fox-eating draw more attention than this previous case...

The eating of babies
http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/weekly/aa080601a.htm

On that note, can I eat a really greasy hamburger and claim it as "performance art, symbolizing the struggle of my arteries against the quasifree will of my metaphysical consciousness"? ;)

Actually Darko, I do know quite a bit about performance art. Why don't you smoke a bowl and re-read my post before commenting on the state of my education? ;)

Billy's immediate reaction was what I was speaking to as a representation of a greater problem. After learning of the incident,

1) He didn't even understand what the artist was against or for.
2) He found the abject cruelty hilarious.

I found it rather disturbing that the only post in this thread was that type of reaction, and I see it as a greater problem with impactful art and its representation. Art as protest is tricky enough when it doesn't involve taking life.

Did you try stuffing them with fruit first? Really makes a difference - absorbs all the fat.

Select cuts are actually quite tasty. Of course garnished with fava beans and swilled with a fine chianti ;)

Bowl smoked. I am sorry but I thought you meant performace art not protest art when you said "That's the problem with this type of "art" - It appeals to the cruel base nature in people." My bad. :o

Babies really need to marinate overnight! If you marinate and BBQ them right that meat will slide right off the bone. Ask Bobby Flay. :D

Thanks Kendra.. this is exactly what I am speaking to.

To take it even further, assuming that art as protest is always impactful and justifiable is to assume that deconstructing content from form is a skill that a majority of people posses (or it wouldn't be truly be successful as protest). Not everyone does... or there wouldn't be degrees and the such devoted to it ;)
