I want to know why you consider it important enough to come on here and talk about personal attacks, but not important enough to right a wrong - i.e. take Trinity's land out of auctions. You know that this was unintentionally released and yet LL refuse to return the land to her. I seriously cannot understand what the hell is going on in the minds of LL. If they are that desperate for US$16 I will pay them that myself.

To say that I am pissed off is an understatement. There appears to be a huge disparity in the way you treat different members of SL and quite frankly it's not acceptable any more.

Latonia

Yes, bravo Jeska. When players were grabbing up released land using land scanners, the solution was for the Lindens to profit off of it instead. The fact that an auction cannot be stopped on a LINDEN CREATED AUCTION is ridiculous. It is not that it cannot be stopped, it is that LL will not stop it- big difference. Trinity must obviously not be paying enough money a month to have any attempt made to help her, since the list of exceptions made, sims rolled back, land bought back, rules overlooked, blah blah blah is quite extensive for certain big ticket players. To add insult to injury, you let a player taunt her (and leave his posts) but edit those responding to him. On both a customer service, and a moderation level, this whole situation is nothing short of pathetic.

I don't mean to correct you Darko, but it is them, not him since all the alts would go too :)

Jeska posted this on the other thread - which is good news, so far.

I was just coming to post this, Latonia. Thank you! Thanks to everyone for their support! This has been one trying day at best. Now I wait with baited breath to see if my land stays in my hands. :)

Eventually this land would be auctioned if not returned to the owner."

Well if someone want's to make trouble for a player who accidentally released land by bidding and holding the land for randsome, I'm sure there are lots in SL who can make trouble-in-kind for that someone.

Not naming any names, just making the suggestion that if someone in this world is unecessarily picked upon (even if it's allowed by the TOS to pick on someone), then everyone in the world can pick on that particular bully within the rules too, in a very effective manner.

Things are really difficult if you have an automated system with set rules. If you make exceptions in one case this might open one big box of complaint from other people.

Nevertheless I think it would be great move by Linden to help out Trinity here.

From: Billy Grace
Trinity, as I said in your other thread, I am volunteering to split the cost with Talen to give you back your home

If not I'd also join and help out.

I think that whilst we have such a bad land system - i.e. it being all too easy to unintentionally release land, the least LL can do is to make exceptions until they fix it.

Anshe,

<<Things are really difficult if you have an automated system with set rules. If you make exceptions in one case this might open one big box of complaint from other people.>>

I don't follow this at all. If an automated system is so badly designed that it can rob someone of their land because of a very minor error on their part, then an exception has to be made. And if anybody complained about it, I feel they would be showing themselves to be so mean-spirited that their reputation would plummet.

Trin that sucks I'm sorry :(. It looks as though you have plenty of support to get your land back if you need the help. As far as the Lindens not helping, I'm not sure at what point they decide to step in. I know my sister had some problems paying the wrong person, someone who hasn't logged into SL since January of last year. She was helped once by Colin (thanks by the way Colin). The next time it happened, yes she felt really stupid lol, they told her tough luck pretty much. It was a pretty large amount of money and she ended up e-mailing Philip but he just brushed her off and then gave her the ol' "Best Wishes" lol. She felt really bad about it, I tried telling her that I've almost done it several times. There are tons of people in Find that don't play anymore and one happens to share Water's name, well part of it lol. My point here is that they stepped in to help once but not again. I'm not really sure how they decide when to help and when to wash their hands of a problem. I hope everything works out and you get your land back hun.

In general I agree with you. But it is difficult to define things like "minor error". I do think that Linden should help here and think they will. Yet, they are not obliged to. I know that the Sonys, EAs and Microsofts out there would not even listen to the problem. Mmmm, yes. I could tell you some really really sad stories about the reality in many other online worlds...

People have been asking for some kind of confirmation on the Release button for months and months. This sort of thing happens often enough because of that bad UI design that LL should make it a high priority to fix. In the mean time, users who are burned by what is actually a usability BUG should not have to suffer for it.

Anshe,

I am sure you are right about the way other online worlds are run. I've had experience of one which was such a horrible place it made coming to second life seem like a breath of fresh air. But just because we are fortunate to have an enlightened company running the place, doesn't mean that we shouldn't complain when they do get it wrong, nor that we shouldn't try to encourage them to right obvious wrongs.

<<But it is difficult to define things like "minor error".>>

I agree. But ideally software should be designed to be 'idiot proof'. A well-designed piece of software should be so robust that major or minor errors are virtually impossible.

Well I guess the truth hurts - everyone knows they are biased. If that is the reason, my opinion of LL will plummet to rock bottom. They are adults for goodness sake - sulking is'nt a very mature way to do business is it.
