oh ok... so to clarify... You ARE being annoying for the sole purpose of being annoying. Is your goal to annoy people by arbitrarily posting nonsense on threads and driving them away from the forums altogether? For the record, this post began as a serious inquiry into what I may have missed during my absence. It appears to be that your goal was to sidetrack the thread and deveiate it from its course? dont you see the irony contained in posting a criticism about posting ones thoughts? think about it Actually... due to the ignorance being displayed by you here I was ignoring this. Now that you want to expound on the irony, lets examine this little tid bit shall we? Yes I initially posted regarding how I, on the one hand, was amazed at how people drag thoughts, opinions and perceived rights regarding morality into a virtual world. Notice the "regarding morality" as a qualifier? Perhaps your commentary was in oversight of this detail? My reference to the morality issue was was directed at the whole, "You took a picture of a womans crotch and she didnt know about it and now I am gonna scream bloody murder about it because she didnt know you took it and thats violating and exploiting women" thread. Ummmm no. Its not. And quite frankly by thinking of such I label you an idiot. They arent "women". There arent "body parts". And for you to get peeved by a virtual picture of a virtual slice of poontang tells me that you put FAR too much time, thought, and energy into applying REAL WORLD morality to a freaking VIRTUAL situation. Then again Im quite sure no one but me cares what I think and freely labels ME an idiot. After all... SL is all about being self absorbed if you damned well please and labeling anyone anything you choose. But I digress. The matter at hand here is that, in my opinion, you overlooked the "morality" clause of the original post and try to use it as some twisted form of ironic 9 iron to swat away my views on the lack of common courtesy displayed by the post farmers. Your opinion, my opinion, their opinions, our seperate belief systems and each persons boundaries are all legit. I joined SL during your hiatus, so I don't know you, although I'd be interested in running into you in SL (if it ever gets "up" today -- now they're saying 3pm!) The main thing you missed was Neverland... a 3-sim masterpiece by Fey Brightwillow, Nyna Slate, and a whole team of great creative people... It had a 1905 London sim and two adjoining sims representing the Neverland side of the Peter Pan story. There are a lot of great things going on and great things being crafted by the creative/artistic community... The important thing to remember is that there's a 90% junk level.... Dont let the cheesy clubs and "sexy av" contests obscure the fact that there is a level of absolute brilliance that rises above it in the magnificent 10%. I'm sure that you'll find all the good stuff in short order.. As far as your comment on morality and its application to SL, I beg to differ.... SL is not a game... it is a metaverse, and morality applies and should apply to all playing fields of human endeavor, virtual or real. There was a recent controversy over an av that looked 10 years old and was prostituting herself in SL., under the "guise" that it was a Japanese anime heroine who was actually 400 years old... There was a bit of indignation over all that , and the lindens took appropriate action.... "game" or not, SL cannot be perceived as a haven for child molesters -- not good for LL, not good for the rest of us, just trying to make our way here. So if you do snap an "upskirt" photo of me, it is equally as offensive in SL as in RL ... and that is as it should be. All this aside, welcome back to SL, which I imagine is a much more evolved place than the one you left. -Jeri |
