look, you don't know me, if you read the thread you'd see this is for fun, not an homage to evil, I didn't know it was Holocaust day and if you DID know me you'd know that I have battled evil nazi's in RL but you would rather be politically correct and scold me.

yo, this thread is for the tiny tiny minority of people who are not nazi's but enjoy roleplaying, you made your point that you are not interested, point taken and thank you.

you guys need to make your own thread, you don't need to spam my legit thread with your negative reactions to my whim of an idea, no one wants to join anyway so you are obviously the majority, this thread does have a purpose, it's not a gripe thread, there may be someone out there as sick as me who would give my idea a try, I know the vast majority of you hate anything controversial but don't step on my toes, there is room for all of us.

This is a pretty touchy. So touchy I'm almost afraid to say that I think people are overreacting. As Marilyn said, daz is obviously not a Nazi sympathizer. I also do not believe the subject of Nazis is so taboo as to never be funny. Humor can be the best theapy. Remember Mr. Hilter trying to blend in a British suburb in Monty Python It's good stuff!

If the Nazi part of it isnt important to you then remove it and replace it with something else. I assume the original writer used Nazi terminology and clothing to make the impact and people more 'hardcore'. So if its not important just pick another 'hardcore' group that isnt as offensive or just make up a new group/gang altogether. Im just making suggestions if you are wanting to get more participation. If you wanna keep going your current route Im not standing in your way.

aww thanks Marilyn and Aimee, I'm a pretty sensative person in RL and would never try to offend but in SL we can indulge our less civilized ideas without hurting anybody.

I'm a newer member, and I usually don't reply to many messages, but I thought I'd throw my opinion out on this one.
In my personal opinion, all that Daz was trying to do was "advertise" that she wanted some slaves for her BDSM (Dominate/Slave) Club. It just so happens that she based her club on a movie she found amusing. This is Daz's right, as a landowner in Second Life. I do not believe that Daz was trying to offend anyone at all by choosing this movie. I'm half-jewish, and Daz did not offend me at all. While I am not BDSM, I respect her choice of what they want to run on their property. If someone doesn't like the tone that Daz is taking, just don't participate in the club. All the drama this thread is generating doesn't have to be there.

Most "Nazi humor" stems from in some way making fun of them. Allo' Allo' (although nobody was technically Nazi in that), Hogan's Heroes, the "Springtime for Hitler" thing...etc.

The reason it wont work is this.......Extremists from both sides of the fence will jump on your bandwagon m8 and use you as a podium. Right wing extremists will proclaim you a hero and anti-nazis will proclaim you a devil,and you my friend will be caught in the middle wondering what the hell you did.

Also with the 60th aniversary celebrations of VE day going on all over Europe your timing was a bit on the crap side lol

My own personal opinion is that if you can find fun and frivolity by using subject matter involving the murder of millions of men,women & children then you should be seeking medical attention rather than making movies.

Of course this is true. There is a large number of fetishists who enjoy wearing variations of Nazi uniform/costumes. Aside from the ones worn by Goering they are all rather sexy in their way and the theme does lend itself very well to that whole bdsm thing. I think that after the whole W Hat concentration camp build a while back a lot of people are sensitized to this issue, but Daz was obviously not seeking to grief or offend anyone, and bad taste - in this case comically bad taste - has never been a crime. If you were to go ahead with a project like this, leaving out all of the politically sensitive swastikas, perhaps, nobody has any right to be offended by what you do on your own (mature) land.
Even so, the timing really sucked, what with all of the lingering controversy over the war so evident this week. When I see the way that some people get worked up over our last Civil War here in the US, that won't be changing all that soon.
