I don't have any myself Juro, but I tried searching, nothing really old on these forums, however with the power of google I did find an old picture of Stillman (or atleast a build from it) in NWN's for walk across the world.

http://secondlife.com/notes/2003_08_18_archive.php

And more directly:

Probably not what you had in mind, but I tried! :P

Thanks Oz! That pic will come in handy.. from the dates it looks like it was before I moved to Stillman.

I heard rumors that there used to be some mansion or something in Stillman on the hill.

I used to go to the Stillmann bazaar a lot in 1.0. It was fairly empty, since there was a shitload of linden owned land. There was a horribly primmy, but beautiful house somewhere near the bazaar, I think it belonged to Evie and Valfaroth?
There was also a place owned by Aaron Linden, where you could get lots of scripted goodies made by him. I took a copy of everything hehe :)
Oh, and someone had bought some land on top of the hill to protect the landscape, and put a tower-like build there.
I dont know if I have pictures... I have a shitload of pictures in my inventory but they are all named snapshot :(

When I first moved from Teal to Stillman in early Sept. of '03, I bought a small parcel on the top of the hill and put up my Sun Tower. I found pics of it and posted them in the wiki. The Sun Tower mysteriously vanished with the arrival of 1.2, along with my house.

I feel your pain Eggy. I've been spending some time everyday renaming them, so I know what I have.

Added "Lasts" section under events. Moved Voting Stations to the Lasts area. (Trying to keep the main page to overall grouping of sections, not specific historic things.)

I am so happy how many people are helping out with the SimHistories section... pictures are GREAT... I should at the very least take care of these for Varney... wish I still had a picture of Lain's tree, though...

I moved the Lasts out of the Events and onto the main page, technicly not all the Lasts would be an Event hence the moving. Also changed "will" to "may" as you never know what will decide to rehappen, although its doubtfull, I never like to say "never" myself. :P

Why wait untill the 18th to delete the link to voting stations on the front? Might confuse some people, but I'm sure they'd find it, heheh.

Also, by balloon tour do you mean Walk Across The World (which this last time had a balloon)? Or did Hamlet actualy do balloon tours that I don't recall?

Okay, changes to that make sense. And now that you've moved it up a level, deleting the link now seems okay since it's easier to find.

Walk Across the World - yes, think that was the name of it, but really Hamlet did it by balloon, he made people who couldn't fit walk, lol!

Lol, the best source for that would actualy be the NWN since he chronicled the first one, which is in the archives, then did step by step reports some of them live while doing it the second time around.

http://secondlife.blogs.com/nwn/

I'm not sure if he'll try and do it again, I wouldn't be surprised though if he did because Hamlet is just crazy enough to try. :P

" Arcata is currently on sim server 38."
Who is doing this?
There is no 1:1 mapping between servers and simulators. Simulator content is dynamically attributed to a physical server whenever they deploy a new patch. We even have a pet name for it, the "simulator lottery" :)
There is no point in adding this information, since it changes all the time, and is irrelevant to SL history anyway :)

Ok, I'll fess up and say that was me. I could've sworn that I saw somewhere that each sim was on it's own server and that by looking at the number, you could tell the order it was placed. I'm not sure where i saw it, I think it was here in the forum, but yea, the numbering system didn't seem to make sense, but I figured it was just LL being all nutty. I'll pull the info tommorow.

Hamlet, to my knowledge, did not once get in the balloon. Nor did Brad Lupis who had the map and guided us all on the walking tour.

Cubey Terra was the Balloon guide.

Zana Feaver was there, I met Merwan for the first time and Pendari Lorentz changed her outfit to match every sim we crossed!

I only managed half the walk before I was overcome with exhaustion, hehe

This was the second time Hamlet had the Walk Across The World and it was March 4, 2004. I don't remember the date of the first walk.

Yes Pituca's got a good memory.

I did the whole 2nd walk - Walk Across the World - it took just over 9 hours! Yes nine, as in 9 hours!

OMG - let's all get together and do it again sometime!

Ok, Im a contributor to this wiki now :D

I filled in the "coastal town sims" and made it easy for anyone to make a post to each one. The ones on the list are all of the original ones.

The section SE of that came later, all primarily named for planetary moons, we need a section for those sims.

I added a few random comments on sims all around the world so they would have a comment, nothing really detailed.

We do need a section about early life, taxes, public land claiming, prim hogging, event boards, etc. Stuff we did that we dont do anymore. We need a way to format it though. I guess the "lasts" section would be the place for that. "Lasts" is an iffy topic name because you never know what will happen to change it. Like the balloon tour that is listed there, there could very well be another in the future.

I have a lot of pictures of the world in the early days. I lost 8gb of photo history to a hard drive failure earlier in the year, all my really old pics are in world. They come out in a crappy format, so I will have to look into getting some pics out of SL and in a decent format to use here. I specifically took a ton of pics of AV Central before it went away. Im sure I have a couple in world.

Everyone is doing a good job, keep up the good work.

Whee, thank you Loki! SL snapshots are 512*256 I believe. There's nothing you can do about it, but they are certainly better than nothing :)
If you wish to send me or Oz a copy of your snapshots, we may be of assistance in figuring out what matters most and deciding where to put it :)

Artillo, I'm not sure, what was at the appartments?

Brian, that used to be true during the very early days, such as DaBoom was sim1 etc and they were all added in progressional order... but thats all since changed with them switching around hardware. Like all the older sims, 1-12(?) I think, have all been upgraded to new servers so their numbers are all screwy now. I added the info on DaBoom's number mainly because it was 1.

And Pituca does have it right, I was there too, crazy Hamlet refused to get into the balloon, and all the slackers :P were on the balloon.

Loki, awsome, yeah I'm not sure about the Lasts category, we do need a catagory for general history stuff, but I haven't been able to think of another kinda category, maybe Historic Issues? Or Historic Life? I dunno.

Many thanks to Jarod Godel and Oz Spade.
I will be putting up a lot more content soon. All contributions are welcome.

I've started adding info about Green. Will continue to do so. Any landowners (or oldtimers) with info about Green out there? Please send me an IM (or add your own info.)
Thanks!

The dreaded snapshots. I've found that if I resize the image to 512x384, the image comes out looking correct and not vertically squished.

Hmmm about those snapshots, aren't they larger if you Save To Disk? I was under the impression -- and it seems to me from my own photos I've taken -- that they save in whatever resolution the usable area of SL is, if you Save To Disk. Thus, you can get 1024 x 768 and stuff. Please clarify, thanks. :)

I believe that is correct Torley. Save to disk seems to save the image at your screens resolution. Taking a snapshot in SL, then saving it to your computer (open the image File - Save Image as) seems to give a much smaller resolution. I believe that is because SL automaticly resizes it to save space.

Yes! You are right.. I should've clarified. When I save an *existing* snapshot from my inventory to disk (as is mostly the case with 'old' pics), it always is saved on my machine as 512x256 and looks vertically squished. Resizing to 512x384 rectifies this.

If you take a snapshot and save it directly to disk, it's another story....
