Help me track this down?

OK, here is my problem, I have a pretty good idea of who's doing this, but I would like to collect more data on what's happened.
If you have been given a skin called:

Lt Vamp w/Makeup

please let me know who you got it from, and I will start tracking it back
this is a skin that I spent days on, a skin I made for myself that somehow has gotten released in the world and now says the creator is "nobody"

It's not a full body texture, but has full body shading, and a rose tattoo on the hip

I still retain the original textures for this, so when I open it, I can see that it's mine.

If anyone can assist me, let me know.
I've already IM'd the person who 4 people have told me gave it to them, so I have a pretty good idea,.. and I've filed an abuse report as well.

I know I can't turn back time, but I'm asking everyone to just be moral.. If you didn't make it, you have no right giving it out. Period.

I am sorry this has happened to you too, Mistress, as I know how much work you put into everything you do. Torley's new alabaster complexion is a complete coincidence, and the tatoo is of a Casio keyboard, so we know Torley is not the culprit.

I'll keep my ears an eyes open an on the lookout also. having one's original work "stolen" sucks big time girl...... I am very, very sorry this has happened to you my dear lady. I just hope this does not discurage you on making more skins is all. An a bit of advice hun. Try real hard to find out HOW it happened in the first place. If you don't "plug that hole" so to speak, it could happen again........... In either case, we're with you girl.......

This is horrible. Mistress, your clothing is great, too bad you dont make enough for men! But I am incredibly sorry this happened. If I see anything ill track it down!

Im sorry about what happened mistress, and they should have better respect for what u make. If i find out anything ill let u kno. Its a shame how ppl can be so disrespectful with other peoples property.

The only thing I could see for this to have happened was if you gave/sold the skin while the texture was accidentally set to mod/copy/transfer , but I believe that currently it's automatically set to Transfer only when you upload one, so maybe it's not that?

I can't help you on this as I've never seen this skin in use (or don't think I have), but that's pretty lame in any case... I hope things can get sorted out for you :/

If you posess something with full perms that *I* have made, you do not have permission to give it to anyone. The case is probably a bug that suddenly released perms *cough* 1.5 *cough* but you do NOT have permission to give out anything I have made. Anything labeled as "donation" or "free" from Mistress Midnight would only be handed out by me~

That should go without saying, but every day I get more and more IM's warning that it's happening.

I totally 100% agree with you on your sentiment here, unfortunately there is a surprisingly large part of the community who have the opinion of 'it was copyable... I'll damned well copy it as is my right'. They know damned well that they're not supposed to, that it was probably due to a bug or genuine mistake, but they're selfish, immoral a-holes and unfortunately telling them what your 'license terms' are doesnt mean a damned thing to them.

You know.. this is a ashame that people are like this. Step on anyone to make a dollar! People complain about land barons but you dont hear a mass of people complaining about theives like this... these people arent stealing a set amount of money from you.. its limitless depends on how much they sell the skin for and how many people buy it.. mistress its sad but you could have surely made them several K linden.. grrr

Mistress, I am sorry this has happend to you, I know Id be outraged if it happend to any of my skins or face tats.

Unfortunately this is something like that old boat and old clothing thing of the past all we can do is either suck it up and deal or make it publicaly known who is doing it. Either way it only works for a short time and then several months latter your right back to ..."did you know so n so is giving your stuff away".

Best advice I can give you hun is pull it from inventory upgrade it and make it better to where it puts the old copyable one to shame. This has been the only way I know to thwart stupidity such as this.

Mistress , I'll have to track it down but I remember a vampire av being sold with close and just suck=h a skin...when I get on tonight I'll let you know where it is if indeed it is the same skin...pretty sure it was though.

Mistress, I'd be happy to rezz a building on the head(s) of those responsible. Just for fun. A *LARGE* building.

Damn this sucks - we got hit really hard by this bug as well. Unfortunately, I can't really expect people who have copies of this to give it out. I can't remember where 90% of the stuff in my inventory came from - who created it - and so on... especially when the creator tag becomes (Nobody).

The shame of this bug is that the people giving it out probably think that was the intent of the creator.

Sorry you're going through this too. We pretty much wrote off all items that this happened to back at the beginning of 1.5.

Well i know Leyla sells complete body skins that come with facial make-up.
For 2.500L (wich is quite cheap for such a pretty full body skin)

AND they come in 4 different skin colors.
(gothic - peachy - tanned - coffee)



I myself am wearing the tanned skin.
And i couldn't be happier.

The nipples on the skin don't look like over-pinches purple big momma nipples.
+You can always ask to add one of the gecko lower back tattoos on them.

*PREEN* was recently devastated by the privs bug, and I have already discussed at length with the Lindens how these kinds of issues present a grave danger to any productive activity in SL. My clothing is currently being handed out in the new user area and my sales have dropped significantly as a result. Has this hurt my motivation to produce more? YOU BET!

While I can accept bugs in SL, and I can accept users unknowingly redistributing goods, I am most enraged by the self righteous attitudes of those who KNOW they are redistributing or reselling items expressly forbidden by the creators. It's the height of unmitigated gall when these thieves actually lecture the creators in SL on a morality derived from a buggy permissions system. We know who you are, we know you got away with it...but that doesn't make you right. The correct response to stealing is SHAME, not self righteousness.

While the Lindens are looking carefully at this problem from a technical standpoint, I also believe there should be some kind of official censure for those who knowingly and blatantly capitalize on SL bugs to redistribute other peoples work. Knowingly exploiting an SL bug to crash a sim is a punishable offense and so should exploiting an inventory bug to harm the SL economy.

I understand there are many shades of gray in this problem that could make such cases of theft difficult to prove. But some cases aren’t difficult to prove, and if those cases are punished, maybe it will send a message to the others “we haven’t caught you YET, but it doesn’t make you right”.
