Well..if I owned land next to any build that was an eyesore, I would shrug, figure they will move along soon, and put up a nice screen of trees, or a scenic background to block my view of it.

If it were merely "ugly", that'd be all anyone would need do. But, this is all large light objects with animated textures and lots of alphas some 50 meters high. It trimmed my frame rate quite nicely.

Right. This is not about usual ugly building. And he specifically target areas where people actually try to sell their land. Imagine you try to move or tier down and thus put your land for sale and the he steps in and scares away any potential buyer.

But sofar nothing happened. On 12th of January I received one "resolved message" from Linden Lab concerning abuse report but after that the towers were still there.

'Resolved' very often means that LL just threw out your report without doing anything at all. I get them all the time, and they are anything but resolved!

Maybe they meant the DISSOLVED, some headache tablets into some water before they acutally RESOLVE the problem?

Maybe they took it down, waited a day, and put it back up?

Try re-reporting, and referencing the old abuse number?

Just another reason not to own land.

Yeah, I hate it when people leave ugly objects on land that have scripts and.....oh, we're talking about the *griefer* doing that...my mistake.

I wonder if it would be possible to tie ratings to an IP address or the credit card instead of a specific alt. Possibly just behavior ratings?

Would that hinder some alt griefing? Are there bad sides to this idea I'm not seeing?
Maybe ratings aren't even that strong of an disincentive to griefing.

Ratings encourage griefers, and more expensive ratings will encourage them more.

Before, every neg a greifer got was like L$1 earned having fun and pissing people off. Now each is worth $25.

"Lets see if I can get people so pissed off, losing L$75 sounds like a deal!!!"

If someone wants to be bad, they want to be as good ad being bad as possible. Negs are the score. Just look at games where you can play as good or evil. The desire to be the bad-assest bad-ass there is IS in human nature... More so in some people than others.

This has to be taken into account when the new rating system is installed.

Holy moley - I just now saw Biffy building one. Wish I had known he was using them to greif... well, I don' t know what I might have done about it had I known. He was being careful not to extend onto other people's land and stay within the TOS, I'm sure.

What an ass.

Well, deliberately trying to negatively impact sim performance is a TOS violation, isn't it? oO
