What are we allowed to say in these forums?

I say 'poop' some times.

I think people assuming and questioning your motives should be illegal. Sometimes, just sometimes, a joke is just a joke. Without malicious intent or a hidden attack.

But then some people need to learn to read a post and actually understand it in the context it was written, too. Rather than make up their own interpretation of it and decide it was an insult.

I think half the problems on these forums are not from the posters but from the readers who are too dumb to read and understand the fucking post in the first place and take it to mean something it didnt.

And I really have to ask... is saying 'Anshe Chung is shrewd' an insult?!

I'd take it as a compliment if it were me. Which just goes to show that people will take anything to mean whatever they want and get indignant about it.

And the warning. Since this is exactly what Eggy got a warning for, listing cuss words when stating 'things you can't say on tv'. This is 'things you can't (or can. Not quite sure whether Ryen was saying you can or cant say them, or just wanted to write a list of swear words) say in the forum'.

Now lets see if there really is any consistency in moderation, shall we? Mind you, appropriate thread for it

Oh. And of course lets see if the edit of my quote here is consistent. Since often they delete inappopriate posts and leave the quotes of them intact.

Funny thing is, I had done the exact same post a year before that, but nobody cared because that was before the forums became a fascist dictatorship

I have to admit, I'm not sure of this one exactly -- I am assuming for the time that Haney is speaking about threads addressed to a single individual with negative tones (such as a personal attack), or threads that are talking about otherwise important issues from one to another (i.e. "we have problems that I'd like to air out and get resolved in front of the community" but soon go down in flames.

I have made threads addressed to individuals before with no problems. Likewise, aren't "Happy Birthday" threads the same sort of dealio?

Right, negative threads addressed to an individual are inappropriate. Here is the more complete statement from the Basic Forum Policies and Etiquette that provides context -

* Private discussions – the forums are a public area for the Second Life community’s use. Individuals who have a dispute with each other have other channels of communication to discuss their differences – private messaging, IM within Second Life, or chatting within Second Life. Threads that are addressed to a single individual are inappropriate on the forums.

Of course, threads personally attacking two or more people are fine and dandy, as we have already seen.
