...expecially if you compare them to the position of the most green dots concentrations on the grid.
This leads to two options:
1: People say they would burn them down, but then go there and bring them traffic.
2: The forum is really (as someone said) the domain of a very vocal minority.

Anyway i doubt myself most club owners make any money, and if they do it's due to other kind of service, not directly related with clubbing.

you said it well

Probably. Clubs in second life are for the socially rejected. Those who have no place going to a club in the real world (probably due to their fat ass thanks to sitting in second life playing in a virtual club all day and pounding away at "av sex";).

I'm talking about people who do NOTHING BUT go to clubs and shop in second life. I used to hang around in gravity when I used to play (friends with jimmy and foxy).

Do you think the clubs in SL make loadsa money for all the effort or not? If not why do so many clubs open up?

I cannot speak for any other clubs in SL, but the Road House makes no monotary profit whatsoever. The dwell was broken there for the first 2 months it was open, so it really never had the chance to be seen in "Popular Places" .

Monthly RL Fees ... -$50.00 USD
Monthly SL Prizes.. -10,000 $L
Monthly Memories .. Priceless

Thanks Charlotte. This was exactly what I wanted to say elsewhere but didn't quite phrase. TY for capturing an essential point! ~ Perse

But Eloise, is the hedonistic aspect not what drives many people to continue playing SL? Therefore there are far more potential clubbers here than in the real world, where people are far more focused on buying food, paying tax, getting Travelcards etc ...

I did make money now and then working at the club. I made $100 here or there. Back when the Lindens gave out money for arts and culture incentives, I was able to make $250 to host an event (my events typically ran about 2-3 hours) and sometimes a tip or two on top of that. In all, I made around $50 an hour at the club. However, escorts can make up to $1,500 per hour, though they must hustle a number of hours to get the job.

My guesstimate that, outside of the rare talented escort (most escorts I meet say that they don't make much money at it, particularly male escorts), most people who work at clubs make only a little more than the customers. I do not know about DJs though: they are a different story, I bet.

I would guess that the employees of the clubs probably make some money, just how much is anyone's guess. Any employees out there that care to share any insight?
