I will pay large amounts of cash money for that one! :D

Truly, some of my most delightful SL moments have been while viewing the ever-changing floor show at the hangout. And that's speaking as a newcomer, who was welcomed with open arms by the members of the forum! My very first post led to a slew of helpful suggestions, landmarks and the like.

The description that pops up in Search for the Forum Cartel Hangout is "A wretched hive of scum and villiany" -- oh, sign me up to live in this colony!

Actually, and I could be wrong, but I believe it is: "A wretched hive of scum and villiany ??" And then something more, like dance, or chat, or something.

Could very well be AO as mentioned, but it could also be hair. The non-prim hair. I put on a bald hair thingie so that I could put on a wig. Put on wig. No problem. Then I shrank myself (don't ask), and I saw some ruth hair sticking out and cammed in and . . hey, there's a ball of ruth hair stuck in my head. I changed to a different bald hairpiece and away went ruth hair. Apparently the "bald" piece I had been using just barely slide the hair out of sight, did not remove it completely.

We're not surprised that you had a hairball inside of you. Isn't there something the vet can give us to help you with that problem?

The "??" are due to some bug with in SL.

I am now sad. I thought you were trying to be funny putting those ? there. As in "Of course not! Everyone welcome for conversation, dancing, chatting."

I've been reading the forums, since, what, last August?

Time and time again I've read about the forum cartel, and the hangout.

Being painfully shy in social settings I was reluctant to ever go to the hangout.
But about two weeks ago I decided the hell with it and I took a deep breath and TP'd over.

No one was there.

I wandered around a bit, turned on view property lines so I could get a feel for what made up the hangout and eventually left.

I've been back about 4 times since then and only once was someone there, I can't remember her name but I think she said it was her first time there too. She introduced me to the cranky squirrel. lol

Oh and last week someone planted a bunch of easter eggs early in the morning (for me anyway) and I went over and found most if not all of them. Then I felt guilty that I had ruined the fun for someone else but I couldn't put them back.
I'm a mess. LOL

So I guess I keep missing all of you. One day I am going to tp over there and freeze in a panic of social anxieties because of all the people! LOL

I didn't plant those eggs, but I'm sure that's exactly what they were for - for someone to have fun searching and eating!

If you join the group, you will often hear us rambling and giving a shout out when the place is full. Can't wait to meet you...

Yup I agree.

I don't get over to the hang out as often as I should.....I spend a lot of time on my photo work.....but every time I make it there, I've always felt like I belonged. This is a good bunch....no matter our differences.....we all have em, same as IRL.

Thee'a aren't many places I return to on a regular basis for just the reasons stated here.....it just isn't that friendly everywhere you go. It should be....but SL is run by human beings and not all human beings think alike in terms of tolorance or acceptance. A very dear friend of mine bought me a lion avatar last night. I'm never anything but human in SL....but he was trying to get me out of a funk and he said "I think you need to be a cat" LOL So I did it......it was kind of cool..... and I immediately realized as I sauntered around in my lion persona....that nothing about me had changed.... SL is about representation..... we all choose our avatars according to our own agenda and to me....the more diverse, the more fascinating and wonderful our adventure becomes.
Bravo to this Forum for upholding that ideal.....and making each of us feel welcome and valuable. I'm definitely thrilled to be a part of it.

The hangout is found in search by searching for "Forum Cartel". My the number of times I've put in "Forum Hangout" and just sat there waiting for it to pop up, for anything to pop up . . and then remember that it is Forum Cartel.

It is in Allana.

FaTeke, I have four suggestions for you:

1. Join The Forum Cartel group in world. You will get a lot of silly group chat, but you'll also be notified of formal events, and the chat will let you know when there are folks at the Hangout. The group is open enrollment.

2. You can get a little HUD at the Hangout that lets you know when other people are there (I think that's how it works, I haven't got it myself).

3. You can get a calendar of forum events from a sign on the wall. Release candidate viewer is recommended for this one.

4. If all of the above is too formal for your taste, just continue to show up once in a while. Be patient...just sit down and sort inventory or something. When I arrived last night, I was alone. Within about ten or fifteen minutes, other people started to show up. I don't know if it was my magnetic personality, or if the timing was just good.

And about those easter eggs...don't feel guilty. The instigator (Joe Abel, I think) kept putting out new batches all day.

And Joseph...you bad kitty, you. Why didn't you tell me your av could dance? You let me linger all alone on the sofa! Next time, I expect to tango your tail off.

- I have no idea if Joseph put any out, but the ones I found (ok 1) was put out by Argos Hawk (I think that is his name).
- Fourm Hud will place a line at the bottom of your screen. If no one is there, it will say "Sorry . . " something, and each time someone is there, their name will appear on that line. I do not know how far the radar goes, but I have been there and seen another name on the bar and not seen the person anywhere near me. The Mystitool did note the person was more than 20m away, but I do not recall how far away.
- Group chat is problematic at the moment. Hard to get it to work, to start it, or to keep it if someone else starts it.

Being anally retentive, I have to insist it's VILLAINY, not villiany.

The cube or red thing...is usually the root prim of a prim hairdo, makes it easier to adjust the thing while building or editing it....at least that's what they want you to believe. :D

And you just wait until I come with my winged black cat avi again....THAT looks decidedly weird when "dancing".

Where's that flying book avatar from, anyway? Sounds interesting!

Thanks. I enjoyed hiding those this week. And FaTeke, you didn't find all of them. As late as last night, when I was hiding another batch, some of the first eggs that I hid were still in place. When I finished hiding them yesterday, there were 20. I have no idea how many are still left. They may still be there by next Easter.

My advice to folks who TP in to the hangout and find it empty: hang around for a while. Lots of people use the hangout HUD and will turn up if they can when they see someone else there. Even if the hangout is empty when I arrive, I'm rarely alone there for more than 5-10 minutes.

Also there often seem to be folks at the hangout at around 2-4 SLT and also later in the SL evening, say around 7 SLT and later. I'm sure there are folks there other times too but those are some times I often find people there.

I found 8 of the eggs. I got distracted, though, and started driving my cars around inside the hangout. Sorry I kept driving over you Graphicguru.

Yes, Argos Hawk is the evil genius behind those easter eggs, and how deviously clever they've been hidden...I feel fortunate for finding the few that I did (Thank you Maureen for showing me what they look like!!...who'd have thought of an "egg" shape, for an egg? But they are kind of small...hen's eggs, not ostrich eggs or dinosaur eggs)

No problem, I kind of enjoyed it, it was pleasurable pain. But I was kind of hoping you would have come over and licked my wounds with that raspy kitty tongue of yours.

If it is the one that I have, it is from Grendal's and was not very expensive at all.

While I was there, I also got a 'writing in book' Typing Anim override that you might find cute - whenever I have the typing animation actually turned on and the book override attached, if I Chat, then it looks like I am writing in a large book.
